RANCH DRESSING
NY ranch style buttermilk dressing or mix the following until smooth:
1 c. mayonnaise
1/2 c. sour cream
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. dill weed
1/4 c. milk
1 tbsp. parsley
1 tsp. onion powder
1/4 cup buttermilk may be used instead.
Ranch Dressing
Ingredients:
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon minced dried onion
1 clove garlic -- minced
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
Directions:
Mix all ingredients except buttermilk in a small bowl. While stirring, slowly blend in buttermilk. Chill at least 2 hours before using.
This recipe for Buttermilk Ranch Salad Dressing serves/makes 1.25 cups
Ranch Dressing
• 1/2 small clove garlic, peeled
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 small red bell pepper, minced (about 1 tablespoon)
• 1 medium scallion, white and green parts, minced
• 1 small shallot, minced (about 1/2 tablespoon)
• 1 1/2 teaspoons minced fresh parsley leaves
• 1/2 teaspoons minced fresh cilantro leaves
• 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
• Pinch ground black pepper
• 1/4 cup buttermilk
• 1/4 cup mayonnaise
• 2 tablespoons sour cream
1. Roughly chop the garlic, then sprinkle it with the salt. With a chef's knife, turn the garlic and salt into a smooth paste.
2. Mix the garlic paste, bell pepper, scallion, shallot, parsley, cilantro, lemon juice, and black pepper together in a medium bowl. Add the buttermilk, mayonnaise, and sour cream and whisk until smooth. (The dressing can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 4 days.)

2 cloves garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt

1 140g pottle light sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons lime juice
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon each snipped chives and garlic chives
Place the peeled garlic and salt in a mortar and pound it till the garlic is well mashed and the mixture creamy. Place in a large screwtop jar and add the remaining ingredients. Shake vigorously until everything is well blended. Add a little more salt if required.
Keep refrigerated.

Mine was 1/2 gallon buttermilk, 1/2 gallon sour cream, about 3/4 gallon miracle whip salad dressing, and a commercial sized packet of Hidden Valley.
It's basically the same recipe as on the back of an HVR packet, only supersized.

Drop by the produce section and get some fresh dill and a clove of garlic. In the dairy section, a carton of buttermilk. Mince the dill and a little garlic, whisk in with 1/2 cup buttermilk...excellent ranch! - Stuart

1/2 teaspoon salt
PREPARATION:
Mix all ingredients thoroughly, cover and let it set in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before using.
