If the secret is the universe, then believing in it would cause one not to believe in the one true God.

It is interesting that every few years someone reconfigures the hypothesis that positive thoughts and attitudes are some type of magic solution to all of life's dilemmas. Positive thoughts, feelings and attitudes are indeed important to a happy life but to put them into perspective, note what the Bible says.
Galatians 6:7-9 "Do not be misled: God is not one to be mocked. For whatever a man is sowing, this he will also reap; because he who is sowing with a view to his flesh will reap corruption from his flesh, but he who is sowing with a view to the spirit will reap everlasting life from the spirit. So let us not give up in doing what is fine, for in due season we shall reap if we do not tire out. "
Or perhaps Phillipians 4:6-8 :Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving let YOUR petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that excels all thought will guard YOUR hearts and YOUR mental powers by means of Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well spoken of, whatever virtue there is and whatever praiseworthy thing there is, continue considering these things.
Yes, according to the Bible, our actions do effect the outcome of our lives. It is as simple as planting seeds. Plant daisy seeds, get daisies, plant beans, get beans. What could be simpler than that?
I simply cut and pasted the same answer i gave to a previous question about "the Secret"

Rubbish. Its all the same stuff. I dont know why some people are so hung up on it. As long as you live your life the best you can then whats the problem?
And as for your comment "We pray to God and He gives it to us." I prayed for a date with Jools Holland and it didnt happen, so get real.

It's easy to see how the secret caught on, since both it and praying to whatever god you choose just works on the confirmation effect - you pray or ask for something, and then if something similar occurs, you attribute it to your asking. However, neither of them work - so I guess that means they don't work equally.

That's no contradiction. It's just nonsensical. Where does the Bible talk about ' "the Secret"/universe '???

praying doesn't do much; there are no gods to listen. you might as well pray to any other fictional character. or are you suggesting that your god responds to all prayers? you know, like regenerate missing limbs and such?
