They may be giving criminals ideas, but do the criminals have the means, or technology to really circumvent the investigation?. Trust me, they're not showing you everything.

The new forensic shows and others like it definitely give criminals ideas of how to avoid detection in many cases. Keep in mind that most hardened criminals already know many ways to avoid this and even prison inmates study these methods to use when they get out. These shows only help them more but the producers and others do not care and only want to make money and get ratings.
The thing about it is that for serious crimes, or violent ones many are done in the heat of the moment and there are always mistakes made no matter how good you are. On top of that most criminals are not rocket scientists in the first place and I have seen cases where they left their IDs, wallets and there have even been bank robberies where the guy wrote the robbery note on his personal deposit slip. They eventually get whats coming to them.
The frustration is that most people don't realize that if say a guy breaks in your home, steals your car.....and we catch him...He has probably done this 20 times prior and never got caught but we happen to get him that one time. The courts then give the guy a slap on the wrist cause its his first time and now he goes out and is a little better at it so he might steal another 25 cars before getting caught...terrible cycle is created. The system definitely needs to be changed... Hope this helps and all my best!

I dont know if they give killers and murders the ideas of how to get away with it or not.. But honestly I watch court TV all the time, it is my fav.. I can honestly say that I think I could get away with it.. I know I would mess up somewhere but they give you to much info.. What they are doing to the ones that are already in that state of mind is just bad.. But they do get really in detail on what they are doing and how they caught them..

They normally give the criminals ideas on how to avoid being caught out after comitting a crime like burglary, murder is still hard to get away with.

No. Because they all show how people are caught and that there is no real perfect crime. No matter how smart the person thinks they are they probably will be caught by forensic evidence.

Of course they do, I would never have known things like gunshot residue, blood splatter, DNA from a hair follicle and so many other things.

They even read them, learn from newspapers, magazines, watch them in real life, and from other bad guys, and think of scenario that never been thought of. It is kinda ironic that it is criminals that are one step ahead of law enforcement system.

they probably do the other program i laugh at is the con ones it shows how a con is done and how to avoid but it also has shown how easy it is to do it yourself and not everyone you would try that con on would've watched the program.
