She is having heat cycles constantly, about 2-3 weeks apart starting about 3 monthes ago, at the time she first came into heat at 6 monthes of age. I have never had a cat go into heat so early in her life, and so frequently. Is this something abnormal? She is my queen for a future savannah breeding, but this is just odd...? Any advice to help her? She wont be bred for another 3-5 monthes. I read that regulating her exposure to light will control this? Is this true?

She IS an indoor cat. I dont want my valuable female bred with any male. Regulating her light, ie making sure she gets less than 8 hours was a trick some breeders use, its suppose to trick them (as they come into heat in the spring, summer so babies arent born in the winter) into delaying/stopping there heat cycle untill the breeder is ready for them to mate. I was curious if it works.. as I know cats CAN breed any time of the year if given the opportunity

She is fine -- it is SPRING! (I have Abyssinians.) I do find that if there are other queens, or a tom cat, in residence that she can smell, she will tend to keep cycling rapidly because she can tell there are "possibilities". If she is a large girl, she may have just matured early and you can really breed her at a year old -- Savannahs are BIG. (Does she eat when she is in heat? It is stressful to have it keep repeating, but you can judge if she is managing it OK.)

No thats horse manure. Come on! Regulating her light? In othe words that means just keep her indoors with you so you won't have to worry about her mating with a male cat! LOL
Cats come in and go out of heat even before they are a year old sometimes. Part of life. Just keep her inside and I really don't think theres much you can do about it to be honest. This coming from a woman who has had plenty of cats and owns 5 right now! LOL And a side note: You don't have to keep shelling out money everytime your cat has the slightest thing wrong with him/her either! Stupid! Cats have been having babies for years without ANY help from humans and did fine! Gimmie a break! LOL

all absolutely normal, thay can actually have their first season anytime from about 5 and half months.
yes the heat periods will be often mine cat was every couple of weeks and lasted a few day, it is very annoying, but as your going to breed from her something you will have to cope with. this will continue until she is spayed.
as for helping her i dont think there is anything you can do other than maybe ensuring no male smells are aound to tease her. good luck with the breeding hope shes a good mum!

She's normal. Some cats come in heat very young, sometimes as early as 4 months! And they have heat cycles every 3 weeks or so until they become pregnant. I wouldn't try to "mess" with her natural cycles, you've heard it said "it's not nice to fool Mother Nature".

If you are planning to use her for breeding, I strongly suggest you take her to the vet and get a thorough check up and not just rely on advice from YA. You want to make sure that (A) she is alright, healthwise, and (B) make sure that if there is something wrong, she is not about to pass it on to a litter of kittens - especially if you plan to vouch for their "quality."
