2 questions. New or used? In what state?
Each state has different laws.
In California, if it was new, there is no cooling off period. You bought it. It's yours. If used, CA provides a 3 day cooling off period to change your mind, and there will be some fees to undo the deal.

Typically, you can't return a car. At a dealership, you signed a binding contract to buy a car. At most you'd be able to exchange it for another vehicle.

Some will take it back for a fee! Some will really hit you hard in the pocket! Most look at it as the deal was done, the car is now used! So look at losing a few grand!

Check the UCC (Uniform Commercial Codes); the amount of time varies from State to state, but I would think you have at least three days in which to change your mind. Just don't be driving it all over town racking up mileage!

check your state attorney generals website. in illinois we have a 3 day cooling period. that's the easy part. now going to the dealership and succeeding (in an amicable fashion) in your goal will be tough.
you: i want return this car, i don't want it, i hate it, i can't afford it.
salesman: wtf, this aint a pair of shoe that you can return due to you buyer's remorse.
you: according to the state attorney there is a cooling period.
salesman: you signed a binding contract, you own this car. please give me a minute to talk to my manage, but i doubt that he'll agree with your request...after 30 minutes or more.....
manager: hi mr. remorseful buyer, my name is dwayne, the finance manager...after 2 hours of b.s....
finance manager: i will have to consult with my general sales manager, but i doubt if he would agree with your request...another 30 minute wait..
you get the picture, be firm and resolved.

If you bought it on the dealer's lot YOU OWN IT
just because you have "buyer's remorse" doesn't mean you can take it back
That's the law in Kansas any away, your stet may be different
