WEATHER
New York has 4 seasons;
Burning hot in the Summer. (Avg 87 degrees)
Freezing cold in the Winter. (Avg 29 degrees)
Warm in the Fall. (Avg 56 degrees)
Warm/Hot in the Spring. (Avg 68 degrees)
All 4 seasons.
Very rare for a natural disaster, our highest risk is a hurricane. The last NOTABLE hurricane was in the 60's. No earthquakes, tornado's, valcano's, giant robots, etc.
TRANSPORTATION
In NY there is ALOT less traffic, even when there is over 2x as many people in NYC than LA. This is because the EXCELLENT transit system. May I add, less air pollution. May I add that, many people who commute to NYC live over 50 miles away like in eastern Long Island and central New Jersey, that's how good the transit system is. The streets are easy to navigate most of the streets in Manhattan are gridded like 1st street to 145th street, etc.
HOUSING
The island off manhattan is a little more expensive then LA, the average 1 bedroom apt cost $900,000. While the average home in the suburbs cost $450,000. If you don't want to move to Manhattan, move across the river to Jersey City, Hoboken, etc, the houses are cheaper, or move to any other suburbs reaching over 60 miles and 4 different states (New York, New Jersey, Southwestern Connecticut, and a county of Pennsylvania.
If you think MANHATTAN is too urban for your likeing, move to as aurrounding city;
1. Jersey City
2. Newark
3. Hartford
4. Yonkers
5. Passaic
6. Elizabeth
7. Downtown Brooklyn
8. Long Island City
Consider;
9. Atlantic City
10. Trenton
If you have to;
11. Philadelphia
12. Providence
CRIME
Believe it or not, There is ALOT less crime in NYC. Only several areas still have crime (Bronx, most of BKLYN and Uptown), and less illegal immigrants. Avoid Newark!
ENTERTAINMENT
Please don't even get me started! NYC has EVERYTHING, the only thing it doesn't have is excellent beaches. The beaches are OK, but not as good as LA. Don't worry about gambling, there are some good casino's in nearby Atlantic City, or Niagra Falls, Ontario, which is a little further. There is EVERY type of person in NYC ang group, the Artsy museum types, the "ghetto groups", the rich people, everything!
Good Luck in NYC,
don't have too much fun, darling!

I think shes talking about the weather. the weather will never get better compared to LA. Most of the year, ny is either too cold or too hot.
Moving to ny, you should have known that going in. Ny is not about weather. Ny is about NYC and the culture of Manhattan.
It may take you years to adjust to the attitudes, beliefs and weather of Nyc, but if you do, you might actually like better than La. I found most people from cali cant survive in ny and end up going home.

You will always miss the LA weather, that is why people usually move the opposite direction than you did. Instead of 11 good months of weather, you will be down to about 6. Good luck with that. Don't worry you will get over the homesickness, and it will get better. If not, just move back.

Do you have any acting experience? Have you done any acting in your life? If not, then don't even bother to look at LA unless you move here with a college degree. Coastal California is the MOST COVETED area which means MORE $$$. Affordability does not exist in Los Angeles. Starting prices begin at around $1000+/mo. and that's usually for a studio in a somewhat decent area. Jobs are also nonexistent at the moment. Unemployment rates have jumped so good luck finding a job. Even if you find a job, if it's a minimum waged job, that job will barely pay the rent (or not even come close to paying the rent.) Keep in mind you do need to buy groceries, hygiene products, clothes, emergency money, gas, electric, water, insurance, car, etc. Speaking of cars, you NEED a car in order to live in Los Angeles.

I just visited LA about a month ago, I w ould love to move there. Perhaps we can swap friends, LA though it's scenic and nice it's NOT NY. We are so spoiled here with the convenience of living here and you dont realize that until you go away. Let me know what you need to know about NY and I would love to answer your concerns and questions. I stayed in Venice Beach, and went all over Beverly Hills, Malibu, it's so beautiful the homes are to die for!

Well, the warm weather is just around the corner, so that should help a little. And, it will get better once you make friends in New York, right now, you're probably just a little lonely.

the weather will be real nice pretty soon, then the summer will come and you won't like the heat and humidity, then the fall is nice, winter is ok , then spring again. Go over to Macy's and take a look at their flower display that should cheer you up

It should. You just need to adapt to the style of life on the east coast.
As you've probably noticed,the east coast and west coast are a little different.
I live closer to the east coast than the west, and I've lived out west briefly, and to be honest, I like the east much better.
You just need to get used to it.
