Some make the excuse it's better that the kids don't eat all of it due to weight gain, cavities, sugar rushes. But don't the adult have those same side effects, if not worse? Who does this?

My co-worker came to work today with tons of Easter candy. It was from her 4 kid's baskets their grandparents gave to them. Her reasons were the above. I just found it wrong to take that much. I have taken a piece or two but never sacks!

No it's not okay for a parent to eat the majority of their kids candy. If they are so set on them gaining weight, cavities, sugar rushes from it then they shouldn't take them out to get the candy to begin with.
Those are the few times a year that some kids even get to eat Candy, and I believe a little candy every now and then doesnt hurt and the parents shouldn't take that away from them.

i'm a baby and that i devour all i visit till it is going undesirable. I stay in a small city so there aren't any huge complications and it continually is sweet from the keep for sure. i do not pass trick or treating anymore because each of the coolest costumes i have already had and not one of the shops actually have any now. The very last time I went became 2 years in the past.

Well people persist in buying my 1 year old candy, which he isn't going to eat. It isn't that I never let him have candy, I don't make it into a thing, but I am not handing him an Easter Bunny, heck even most little chocolate eggs are too big for him, if it is more than a mouthfull it is just going to create a mess.
So I am *forced* to eat it all *lol*
But after about age 3-4 you shouldn't be eating your kids candy, just limiting how much they get given. (I didn't think I had to tell people not to buy a one year old a whole freaking chocolate bunny!)

I hear you about the bag of candy - that's rather scandalous, lol. On the other hand.... who gave these kids so darn much candy? I don't know.
If it's really about preventing the kids from exposure to so many sweets, you let them choose their favorites, and the rest go in the trash, or up to the receptionist at work to put in the bowl, or whatever- and let the kids know why. I'm lucky - my kid rocks - she actually offers to share her holiday candy with her grandma and I. Kinda makes me feel guilty though, which keeps me from rummaging through the ziploc bag on top of the fridge at two in the morning. :)
I think it's more about too much candy period, not so much who eats it. But you're right - your coworker probably didn't make the best choice today. But whattayagonnado. At least it wasn't cash out of their piggy banks. :)
peace & love.

My parents made us stick ours in the freezer that way we could take as long as we wanted to eat it all. My parents also always bought candy for themselves as well, instead of taking ours. So I defiantly say no it's not ok. The only thing I knew I could count on giving to my dad was my mars bars at halloween there his favorite and I loved to share them because they made him happy.

I let my kids have the candy they got, but a little at a time. I ate the stuff they didn't like and threw out some because it wasn't good for any of us. excuses aren't reasons to take from a kid.
