i was looking for good pizza places, hot dogs, or anything special. also, what are some of the most famous shopping areas in nyc? and what are just some interesting things to go see?

The best pizza is in Brooklyn at Grimaldis under the bridge on Front Street. Coal fired pizza unique to NYC and even then only about 3-4 places do that.
Try Victor's Cafe for the best Cuban food in the City. It's only a few blocks north of you. If you like great steaks, eat at Mike Jordan's in the Grand Central Station. As good of a steak as you will find in the City (outside of Peter Lugers), in a completely unique setting...over looking the main center of GCS. Expect top prices as this is a top steak house, not a theme restaurant.
Grey's Papaya for dogs, and H&H for bagels, both are unique to the City and the best to be found.

union square is a nice place to shop...14th to 20th streets on 5th ave.
