I find myself tearing up hearing sad songs that never affected me before, looking at pictures of my parents and myself when they were young and I was a little boy, etc. My parents are only sixty and in good health. I even started tearing up watching "Castaway" with Tom hanks the other night. Has anybody experienced this "tearfullness" after getting off of Paxil? I don't feel any more depressed than when I was on it.

Same answer I posted to your other (same question): I took paxil for about six months a couple of years ago and it was VERY difficult to come off of. Please google on the phrase "paxil withdrawal" and you will get many tips for getting off of it. You must taper your dosage extremely slowly. That doesn't mean a pill every other day and then off. Oh no... it's a lot more complicated than that... it means halving the pills (buy a plastic pill cutter at the drugstore), maybe skipping a day every two days for at least a month, then quartering the pills if possible. Some people buy Paxil as a liquid so they can taper even more slowly. It might take you six weeks to get off the drug, and you may still feel the side effects of withdrawal-- for me they were anxiety and nervousness-- for months. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news... research this subject THOROUGHLY. And don't expect your doctor to know all this-- mine didn't. Some docs might not even believe you. Take charge of your own health. Good luck. You may email me if you like eve0000z at yahoo.

BTW, tearing up at "Castaway" sounds like perfectly normal response to me. The guy goes through a very traumatic experience.

I really don't know the answers but I just got off of Paxil after being on it for 5 years (27mg) and I feel the same way. I am always crying over something whether it is commercial or like you said a sad movie. I wish it would just stop because I know that I wasn't like this when I was on it. I just wanted to get off of it. I hope someone out knows the answer. I'm glad that someone feels the same way That I do.

Paxil is well reputed for the rebound effect that is more intense than the disease was. IT WILL PASS. I've seen it again and again; after a few days it'll pass and then everything will be fine.

The best results for depression that I've ever seen are this book: Feeling Good - the new mood therapy (I think it's by David Burns).
And even better than that, go to a Dianetics center, www.dianetics.org, they get results where no one else can.

Write me privately if you have any questions.
