When jesus said no one comes to God but through me. Doesnt he actually mean through the word and not the actual person?
Arent we supposed to put our faith not nessesarily in Jesus himself who was a man but in the actual WORD he preached? I know Jesus is considered the living WORD of God but i think this is just a play on words that people are getting confused with. Shouldnt we believe in WHAT Jesus said and NOT Jesus himself? I am not saying this to drive people away from Jesus i only want to know what is right.

Lets take one wrong thing you said at a time, in John 1 we are told The Word was made flesh John 1:14, now The most famous verse in all the bible John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
DID YOU NOTICE THE BIBLE SAID "THROUGH" Him, also we are to have ETERNAL LIFE now in order to give eternal life Jesus Christ MUST HAVE IT TO GIVE, also in John 8:58 we are told Jesus is THE I AM, in Heb. 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
Jesus Is also fully God in fact The Father Himself address Jesus as God in Heb.1:5-9 so if The Holy Bible and The Father address Jesus is God then He is and that word WORD in John 1 the W is a capital letter because its a proper person, Jesus. in John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, BUT BY ME.
it is indeed through the death of Christ we have any chance at life in fact Jesus before He was here had a divine body and when He gave that up to come here He lived a perfect life and when He returned He had the save body not just for when HE was here but FOREVER, and Just for you. it is through BE-LIVING in Him we have life, and Jesus Christ IS THAT LIVING WORD. find out more free bible lessons www.itiswritten.com OR www.amazingfacts.org God bless talk to me also wgr88@yahoo.com

John 1, "In the beginning..."

John markes the beginning of Jesus' life as an event that took place before the beginning of eternity, not "at the beginning", not "from the beginning" but "in the beginning" Jesus was already there.

"was the word"

John's use of the Greek word logos is important. The Greeks had developed a philosophy articulated by Plato and others that was built upon the assumption that the logos, the word, was the foundation of everything on earth. The earth Plato said, was simply a shadow of the reality of the logos that existed somewhere in the heavens. The Jews took the Greek concept of the logos one step further. Whereas Plato said behind everything there is a perfect thought (logos), the Jews said that behind the thought there must be a thinker. So John joins the discussion saying, "In the beginning was the Logos, the Word, God- not just a philosophy but a Personality. In the beginning was the Logos- the perfection and the thinker. The Hebrew word for God is Elohim, a word that speaks of three or more. The use of Elohim way back in Genesis hints at the mystery of the Trinity. Its use by John reiterates the reality of the trinity.

"and the Word was with God, and the Word was God"

The devil has spent centuries twisting and trying to reshape the Gospel to confuse those who really don't know the Word of God. Don't make yourself a pawn for the enemy! Jesus is the Son of God and has been given every authority to speak as such. No man shall see the Father except through the Son. If you don't believe that Jesus is Who He Is, then prepare yourself to answer that charge before Him Who Is Holy and Righteous, Amen, and Judges Righteously! Why do men with our limited thoughts think that we can out think an Infinite and Wise God?

Jesus, while on Earth, took on the form of man but has always been God.

And no, it is His blood shed on the cross that cleanses you from sin.

The demons believe and tremble so what good does just believing in His word do.

He actually said, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father but by Me.

You have to accept Him as the savior of your soul, not just what He said.

If you believe any of the Bible then you MUST believe it all. He said He is sitting at the right hand of the throne of God, so He Himself says He is God, not just a man.

Jesus is the one you should trust. You need to trust Him because He is the one who wrote the word, not just spoke it.
As in the trinity Jesus is also God and the Holy Spirit. So I guess you could say all three of them wrote it. * Jesus was crucified on the cross so that your sin's could be forgiven.
I know that this is the BIGGEST mystery in the world and it is majorly confusing, but it is just true. As simple as that. ( sorry I went into a whole other subject. )

I believe you are trying to see Jesus as a mere human being. He claimed to be God, and He said that He is the Way the truth and the Life.. There is no way to get to God but through God.... Jim

But jesus IS God, just in human form...Which is the way people can reach God - through his son who came down and told them about him. It's how we know God, because of what Jesus did and from writings in the Bible which his existance prompted.

Well I always thought it was having faith in the word he preached and having faith in Jesus himself. The word he preached, to know what's right. And Jesus himself, so we know we'll always be taken care of and guided through life (and the afterlife).

That's what I was taught.

It means that you have to accept Jesus as Lord of your life, which when it gets right down to it is a big thing, because if it were a human Lord, that means you would have to submit to his rules. I feel God's rules in the Bible are good and I like them, but coming to God thru Jesus means you have to believe that Jesus is the true son of God and is God also, and that he wasn't just a great guy or such. It means you have to believe Jesus came to earth to die for PEOPLE'S SINS.
