Well you can love anybody. Love means you take a genuine interest in the other person's well-being. But being IN love is more of a feeling. It's not something you can just DECIDE to do.

Remember there is a difference between lust and love. Loving someone can also refer to family members and close friends. Being in love is a little more serious than that.

The difference is a often misinterpreted feeling. When you love someone you would often do what you feel would help them. When your IN love you will go out of your way to make them smile, and you get this amazing feeling in your stomach when they do. Hope this helps. Good luck and love will find you

Being in love happens to the one you are dating and loving someone happens to the one you just saw or met.

I think one way is to realize a relationship, like mom and dad compared to thier children. Mom and dad are 'in love' (hopefully!) and they 'love' their children.

Being in love implies intimacy...Loving someone, such as your parents, brothers and sisters, or friends, obviously does not include intimacy...Well, it does but not sexual intimacy...

"in love" is romantic love...loving someone is just that...loving them (you love your mom, your friends, etc)...at least, thats how the terms are typically differentiated.
