I have a pigeon that is sitting near my front door. I walked up to it, but it didnt fly away. It doesnt appear to be in pain. It is about the size of any other pigeon, but it is brown and kind of spotted in colouring. It can walk, but doesnt seem to be able to fly, or at least hasnt tried yet.
please help me! does anyone have some advice?

Birds can fly when they have their first coat of feathers. If it seams to have feathers, it would most likely be best to call animal control and they will take it to an animal hospital. They will keep you updated but they shouldn't make you pay, don't worry. If there isn't any feathers, watch for a mother. If there is no mother at all, you have the right to take it in for fostering. Pigeons are pretty good pets, but sometimes they just don't want to fly away when you go near them in the wild.

Hope this helps! :]

Maybe it just likes you or is roosting nearby. Either feed it or leave it alone. If you are really concerned that it's injured, take a towel, drape it over the pigeon, place the pigeon in a box (with air holes), remove the towel slightly and take it to a vet. Good luck.

They basically look fluffy and kind of scrawny when they're young. It takes them quite a long time to learn to fly - they have to get their adult feathers and look like proper pigeons first!

I'm sure this one is just too young to fly. I saw a pigeon once that wasn't flying. I was just wondering if it was ill, then it flew onto my shoulder - it had been hand reared and was just learning!

Here's the best piccie I could find sadly....
