I have a extremely stubborn lab puppy. I say stubborn because she will no do anything she dont want to do, i cant even get her to go for a walk on the leash with me. anyway. Ive had her for only few days and she wont eat any food. ive given her canned food and she pukes from it, and she wont even touch the hard food. I know the previous owners gave her hard food and she ate it just fine. should i just wait until she get so hungry she eats it, or should i mix her food. any suggestions would be helpfull!

She'lll eat the biscuits if she's hungry.

However if she doesn't eat overnight when left with food - and coupled with the fact that the wet food made her vomit - I would take her to a vet.

You can also try offering her skinned cooked chicken - tasty, and easy on her stomach. It's not uncommon for puppies to have sensitive stomachs and get a little bit of vomiting and diarrhoea - but if this goes on for more than 24 hours, of if there is blood in either, she needs to get to a vet. Puppies dehydrate quickly, and you want to make sure nothing sinister is going on.

I'm sure she'll get her appetite back in due course, labradors are infamous for eating anything that stays still long enough! With that in mind, feed a high quality dry food, as labs get fat verrrry easily. I run weight clinics, and a quarter of my patients are labradors - they're all getting fat on regular commerical food like Bakers and Pedigree Chum!

Yes, keep on feeding her the dry puppy food her breeders had her on. Changing her food is only going to do things - you're going to turn her into a very fussy puppy and you're going to cause her to get diarrhea by changing her food. Stick to what she has. She'll eat it when she's hungry.

As for being stubborn - do you not know even one thing about how to train a puppy? Perhaps you should go back to the breeder so they can at least teach you the basics. Puppies do not come leash trained - they rely on their owners being at least smart enough to teach them that. And what exactly to you expect from a puppy you've only had a few days? Get a grip!

Avoid mixing her food as she'll begin to expect it and wont eat unless they're mixed.

Put her food down at meal time and leave it for 20 minutes, if she doesn't eat, take it away and wait until next meal time. Leave it again for 20 minutes and, again, if she doesn't eat it, take it away. Don't worry about her 'starving', it's a dogs natural instinct to survive and when she gets hungry she'll eat it!

Edit: How old is the pup? When I first got my dogs they didn't want to walk either, she might be too young to walk on a leash. Just let her sleep, it's natural for a puppy.
