Actually, the GI Bill is only paid out to the service member if he is enrolled in college and taking courses. If he does so and has left over money from the GI Bill, he can use it as he wishes, but he can not just use the money to pay for his wife's student loan.

The GI bill is for him to go to college. And actually, college has become relatively affordable these days. I went to a state university and it was considerably less than $2,000 per semester, including books.

I tried to do something similar because my sister gets GI benefits. Only children of GI's are allowed to use the GI. bill. Meaning if my sister dosen't use up all of the Tuition, her kids are allowed to use it

It is possible for you to use your husband's GI Bill as a re-enlistment perk, he would have to discuss that with his Command Career Counselor or Senior Enlisted Leader. The best thing for you to do would be to have him ask his command.

I've heard that is still on the table - and as hubby is going thru earmyu, his school is free as long as he passes.

Nope. Only those that earn by serving are allowed to reap the reward if their service....as your husband will be able to do.
