I purchased this belly ring that is made of a very flexible material that is designed for pregnant women and people who are very active and athletic. It is made to be cut down by the owner so there is no need to bring it to a jewler to do it. Also, I don't have to take the jewlery out. I have researched it and it can be worn, as long as it is comfortable, for the entire pregnancy if I choose.

My question is simple. The jewlery is 2" long. That is way too long to have in my piercing. For those of you who have experience with this, please tell me how much I should cut the jewlery down. Should I make it just a tad longer then a regular length belly bar or longer then that to accomodate my growing belly.

PLEASE go to the link to see what the ring is like. You can get a better idea of my question.

ok so it says u can cut it down if u like, it would probly be more comfy, or u can leave as is like in the pic. when ur belly gets that big its not gonna be doin much moving anyway. if ur not that far along right now my advice would be to leave it as long as u can while it still being comfortable for u to wear. if the full 2" feels fine, u can just leave it. then theres lots of room for stretching. if not leave as much room as u can. congrats btw!

You may need to get a few different bars throughout your pregnancy. Cut it down to a comfortable length now, but as your baby grows (and you do too) you may find you need a longer length. You should be able to get these through your local piercing studio for less than $10 each. It's hard to say what length you will need, as everyone's body is different (some women find that a slightly longer bar is all they need, others find theirs get stretched quite a bit) You don't want to have the bar too long as it will be more likely to get caught on things and create problems with the piercing (last thing your body needs is a ticked off piercing to worry about)

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Can the supplier give you any advice? They may have a better idea of what's usual.

I don't have any specific experience either, but I would err on the side of caution and have it a bit longer than you think you need it. I say this because I suspect that later in your pregnancy, when your belly is bigger, it would be very difficult to change the bar out for a longer one, if you find you've cut it too short. The skin on your belly gets so stretched during the later stages of pregnancy, that it's under much higher tension than usual - if you end up having to take the bar out, I can imagine it would be hard to get a new one in. Whereas, leaving it a little longer won't do any harm, and gives you room to manoevre.

Hope this makes sense!

i don't have any experience with it, since i have never been pregnant but if you think it's too long right now then i say cut it down a bit. how far along are you? i wouldn't think that it would need to be any longer than an inch long. how much skin is there between the two holes? mine is only about a 1/4 of an inch.
also, did you see the pacifier end? and the crawling baby? how cute!
congratulations!! i hope you'll love being pregnant and your pregnant belly!

I would say you really only need a little bit of extra length. I don't see the actual hole itself stretching that much. This is coming from someone with no pregnancy experience whatsoever though.

It only needs to be about
1/4 inch longer than
your normal ring. You
won't be getting that big.
If you're just not sure, go
to the Tat shop and ask
their piercers advice.

the seller said he had different leangths, if you aren't that far along I would see if he has a shorter one for sale and buy the longer one also for when you are further along and your belly is bigger, the price is right on it so get them both ;)
