Because that's when the insects that they feed on are around.

Bats don't need daylight to see either - they are not blind as the saying goes, but they rely on echolocation to get around and catch prey. This is a very clever sense - their ultrasonic squeaks bounce off objects, and they can read the amount of time it takes for the squeak to echo back to them, and in so doing can actual build up a 'visual' map of their surroundings, including the locations of insects. So clever!

Bats are nocturnal. Bats have wide hairless wings that would dry out in the sun if they flew during the daytime. Bats are good at flying at night because they use sound rather than sight to navigate.

Not all bats fly at night. Some fly at dawn or dusk. Some bats, like fruit bats, don't use echolocation -- their sense of smell and sight are good enough to manage without it. Very few bats actually carry rabies.

Where I live you can contact the local "Game and Fish Commission" or "County Extension Office" and they send you some free information about bats and how to build a Bat House!

Simple - They are nocturnal - sleep during the day, fly at night. They are insect eaters and the bugs are out in the air mostly at night. Bats are very beneficial to have around. We have them in our neighborhood, and they come out dusk. Very cool to watch them flying and scooping in hte air to feed.

because they are noctural animals - they sleep during the day and are awake at night. Lots of animals do that for different reasons. This is just the way they evolved.

They have less competition from birds who hunt the same kind of prey. There are no birds of prey around at night so they are safer too.

Because their prey are nocturnal. The things they eat come out at night so they also come out at night. They are nocturnal.
