I see nothing wrong with parking your stuff in a more secure area than the bathroom. It's a subtle way of letting the person know s/he has overstepped the bounds of roomies. If s/he didn't use your stuff then s/he won't notice its absence. On the other hand if you've got some stuff you don't want anymore - didn't like for some reason - then leave that in the bathroom and watch it disappear like magic.

Your roommate might not know it's bothering you, or may think it's only fair if he is doing something for you...like if he always buys the toilet paper or the air freshener, or if you dip into his breakfast cereal from time to time, or if he keeps the bathroom cleaner than you do...a tit-for-tat kind of thing. So you may want to think about reasons he may feel like you owe it to him to provide this stuff, or to check in with him about roommate stuff like sharing, borrowing, etc.
But if he's just assuming you will provide the bath products...it's not selfish to keep your bath stuff in a bucket and store it in your own space. Better yet, label separate shelves for both your sets of supplies. If he doesn't have any and recognizes the stuff he uses on YOUR side, it will be a huge hint to get his own.
If your bathroom buddy asks where the shampoo is, here are some pretty diplomatic things to say...
"Oh, I put it away, I didn't realize we were sharing..."
"Oh, I took it back to my room, do you need to borrow?..."
"I'm trying to cut spending but I love this shampoo, I would rather not share it..."
More blunt but still fairly polite....he can explain or fix the situation.
"Hey, are you using my shampoo? I keep running out all the time."
"No problem that we share stuff, can you pick up the next bottle of shampoo?"
If he keeps using your bar soap, I would definitely switch to liquid or squirrel the soap out of his reach. That is just gross in my opinion, but then again I don't share toothpaste either, people usually drag the tip of the tube across their bristles....icky.

Yes I'am.
It is not selfish doing it, shampoo and other stuff are private thing so only you have right using it.
I share bathroom too and keep my stuff in my own room so other user cant use it.
Acctually it is not a matter of money, im just affraid something like disease can spread if we use those stuff together.

It's not selfish. I guess you could share stuff from a bottle if you also buy the shampoo in turn; if the other person is just using yours and not buying a new bottle when it's running out, then *he* is selfish! And a bar of soap is better not shared at all.

I see what you mean. But it's not selfish behavior, what the roommate is doing IS selfish. Most people who share showers tote their stuff when they go in and out of the shower.

You'd better believe it! I once shared with roomies, and I made no bones about it. They were so bad about using up stuff that I bought and never buying to add to the stash, that I even started carrying my own roll of toilet paper back and forth with me. Selfish? Maybe, but man I was BROKE and tired of paying their way all the time!

And anything else he is sharing of yours...keep it in your private space. You're not being selfish, he's stealing. If he asks to use it ( on a temporary basis) and you want to share, that's quite another thing.

No you are not being selfish. Just get yourself a little caddy to carry your grooming needs to the bathroom with you.

I'd be pissed if I went to take a shower and I was out of Shampoo and stuff, so go ahead and put it away.
