How big is your dog and how much chocolate are we talking about? Here's a website with more information on chocolate and dogs.

I have a little book " Before you call the Vet"
It says to induce vomiting (which if the dog ingested ALOT of chocolate) follow the following chart!! Hydrogen Peroxide -
Small dog (up to 15#) - 1 TBSP
Medium dog ( 16-40 #) - 2-3 TBSP
Large dog (41-80 #) - 4 TBSP

Make sure you pour it down it's throat. Only do this if there is no emergency vet available. Yes, chocolate is toxic to dogs in large amounts. Do this immediately!

Yes, chocolate can kill a dog! Call a vet immediately. The good news is that sometimes it does NOT affect the dog in a negative way. My dog ate an entire chocolate cake, and it just made him hyper. Don't take that chance though. If you can get your hands on some activated charcoal, try to get him to swallow some. Best of luck to you and the pooch.

Emergency vet asap. Not all dogs are highly sensitive to chocolate, but it can still be dangerous. Get online and see if there is a way to make the dog vomit. That could help prevent so much of the chocolate being metabolized. (I am not a vet - just thinking out loud)

Holy dear gods.

As everyone else has said: VET. NOW!

My great dane ate 1/8th of a chocolate iced sheet cake. Five days after I got him.

I was terrified. I was in TEARS when I called the vet. Thankfully they just laughed and said he'd have the runs for a while. Hopefully this'll be all that happens to your pup. I'll light a candle for the little guy tomorrow and send good thoughts that way.

It may not be so bad, depending on how big your dog is in relation to what he ate and his heath previosly. The thing that will most likely happen is VERY loose stools for a couple of days-so watch out. If he is vomiting too, I would take him to the vet. Give him a very bland diet of only kibble and water for a while, too. Good luck!

I know this seems like a short and cruddy answer, but TAKE YOUR DOG TO THE NEAREST PET HOSPITAL NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chocolate is poisonous to dogs because of a non-alchoholic substance called chocolate liquor. This substance is in both milk AND dark chocolate. It is what gives chocolate it's brown color. It's okay for people to eat, but is extremely harmful for ALL pets, but can be fatal for dogs. However, if all of the chocolate was WHITE chocolate, your dog is safe. White chocolate lacks chocolate liquor, which is why it is white. White chocolate is safe for dogs, but everything else can be fatal. If your dog ate a large quantity of any chocolate that is NOT white chocolate, please get your dog to the pet hospital nearest to you NOW! I hope this helps and that your dog lives a long, happy, and healthy life. Good luck!

My dog did this one time. The vet said to put a little hydrogen peroxide down her throat and wait 3-4 minutes. She should throw up the chocolate, especially if it has been very recent. If they don't, keep putting a little more hydrogen peroxide down their throats until they throw up. If your dogs are small, they will still need to go to the vet to be monitored. Eating chocolate can kill them.

You need to take your dog to the vet immediately to induce vomiting and get that out of his body. Most dogs are lactose-intolerant, and chocolate is one of the worst things they can have.. Especially an entire basket full. Find an emergency clinic and take him there now.
