My guess is that you've been informed by a Canon fan boy. CCD and CMOS sensors are simply two ways of arriving at the same result: great images.
There are all sorts of reasons for wanting a specific Canon or Nikon body, or for preferring Canon vs. Nikon as a system, but this isn't one of them.

Shoot RAW in any DSLR (of equivelent mp) and you wont see a differance in image between brands (Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Sony, Olympus) wheter they use CMOS, CCD, or LMOS sensors. When you shoot jpgs then it becomes personal preferance (like choosing Fujifilm vs Kodak Film vs Konica film vs AGFA film)

The Nikon D2Xs does use CMOS.
The Nikon D2Hs uses LBCAST

nikon is better in my opinion..they have a better editing system. and the cameras work well.
