What did this girl mean out on our date?
When I mentioned something about her boots and then asked if she was big on shoes, she told me in the summer time she really big on shoes that season. Why was she telling me this when I asked, instead of changing the subject or being coy about it?

She was probably distinguishing between shoes and boots and you asked her about shoes. She probably wears sandals a lot in the summer season because it is too hot to wear boots comfortably and also because she probably because she probably wears shorts a lot in the summer season and boots don't go with shorts.

It means she likes to shop for summer shoes (sandals etc).
She didn't change the subject because they are shoes. Nothing more.
