It is Microsoft's new line of both online and offline services. Microsoft developed it to compete with Yahoo! and Google services. For example, Microsoft's Hotmail is being replaced with Windows Live Mail to compete with Google's Gmail and Yahoo! Mail. Another example, Windows Live Local is competing with Yahoo! Local and Google Maps. Microsoft is trying to catch up to Google and Yahoo! in order to gain another source of profit (i.e. earn money from online advertisement). Windows Live Messenger = MSN Messenger

Windows Live is a search engine belive it or not! it is also a hotmail. If you are thinking about having it, download it!
