as i come from northern ireland if you have grey tones i would use Mourne Granite it is lovely i also have burmeese granite it is black with either a small and large splash and then there is the red colour some banks have I put it into to hearth and it looked lovely. my burmeese granite has both black background with a brown splash in same like like the large idition that i have in my hearth. Also i made tops for my fireplaces with this granite

Most expensive but lovely is Blue Pearl. Cheap place for granite in UK is Maple Industries in Oldham.

Dark colors seem more popular. It depends on your decorating and whick color looks best. There are lots of choices as far as how much graining is in the piece of marble you choose

I definitely like the dark ones much better. If you can find indigo black, you'll love it. It's like a dark charcoal black with deep navy blue specks and a wee bit of tiny greyish silver specks. It's fantastic!
