If they were immigrants yes perhaps but most of them are not. If these low skilled immigrants demand more government support they make further immigrants less attractive. Say governments paid a latino immigrant 100 in services now they have to pay 1000 less of them will be brought in.

They're adding up the figures about how much it costs... it cost my husband (he's from Scotland) and I about 3000.00 to make him a citizen (of course we're still working on it...very long process)... but reading some of the quotes, it baffles me that they feel betrayed...have they paid taxes? have they contributed to this country in any way the last however-many years they've been here? I agree that having Mexicans here helps because they do the jobs that American's view as "beneath them"... but would it be so hard to do everything the right way? There is a meat packing plant in Iowa that helps illegal immigrants become legal because they can't hire within the state...no one wants to work there...there are many other places that can't find employees that would hire a Mexican and get them work visa's and eventually permanent residency if they'd only try...
but I also agree that Bush is just wanted to pay for his war, and I don't stand for that at all, so I say let all of the illegals stay for free if it keeps Bush without money! lol

Not only is it NOT acceptable for illegal immigrants to demand citizenship, but Mexico itself would never allow Americans to demand the same thing in Mexico. Here is how Mexico treats foreigners:
"Foreigners can legally enter Mexico only through certain points. Anyone who enters Mexico without official permission is a felon, subject to two years in prison then deportation. Visitors, even those who become naturalized citizens, are not allowed to stage demonstrations or voice their opinions in public debates. Obtaining permission to become a permanent resident is a major pain.... Mexico has strict requirements, admits only certain categories of immigrants, demands volumes of documentation, along with a letter of request from a Mexican employer. Those foreigners who become citizens are prohibited from running for office, serving in the military, working for the police, or entering the clergy. The government can deport anyone at any time for any reason -- or no reason. In fact, Mexico deports far more foreigners than does the United States."

This is as acceptable to me as having strangers come into my house and when I ask them to leave them having flags and singing song to stay. I am not from or live in the U.S.A. but I do not agree with this behavior of the Latin Americans, and it shames me to see all this people. If just all this countries had someone to give them a good job and an oppurtunity. All these people are fighting for putting bread in their table every day for their families, but I think families will starve if they strike instead of working. Yes, there is a certain capicity of people for each country, and U.S.A. is doing the right thing by trying not breach theirs. I sinceely hopes this stops, they shame me horribly.

hell no. Anyone that has nothing to hide has no reason not to go through the legal albeit aggravating process of paperwork. If they cant make that effort for their citizenship, what is going to give them the desire to pay taxes, follow laws, learn the language? Or is it just a new place to set up ethnic neighborhoods while taking advantage of what our country has to offer, but yet becoming racist and anti american as our freedoms allow them to be? It is a very thin line that seperates National Pride from Ethnic Racism

if American corporations would stop hiring these illegals for 2 dollars an hour and giving them free healthcare then these illegals wouldnt be fighting tooth and nail to stay here.
American businesses are too cheap to hire Americans so they hire illegals for 2 dollars an hour.
It is American's fault that they come here and it is American people who patronize businesses who hire them that is at fault also.
If you come from a country that is desperate and poor, wouldnt you want to fight and work hard to live in a better place also?

I think that is ok.
Beings as they have been here paying NO taxes for years (most of them). That amount is like taxes for one year. It is the least they should do. That won`t even put a dent in the garbage clean up required everywhere they live.

No it's not acceptable to me and apparently not to them. Either way there's going to be alot of people who simply won't get to stay. So we're still right back to how to get them out of here. Enforcement. Somebody's gonna be the bad guy and there's gonna be some angry people who didn't their way.

i am sorry but i have to give my opinion, sorry if it offends anybody but i think illegals need to go back and come in legally. Most illegals do not pay taxes, they get government assistance, and alot of them are criminals. Now illegal are filing tax returns and getting refunds, using fake ssn of course

Heck no. It is an embarrassment to me that the criminals are right out in public view, saying they are criminals, and there are no arrests being made.
