The standard Christian answer is because of free will. God created people, and angels, and gave them the free will to choose whether to follow Him or not. The reasoning behind this is described as either God is so cool that he wouldn't make anyone love him, or that God's running a cosmic science experiment and wanted to see what would happen.
I believe that God is so big that we can't know what is truly good or evil. Murder may seem like a bad thing, but if it ended up making the world a better place then is is really bad. Forest fires destroy a forest, but come back a few years later and the land has new life that wouldn't have been possible before.
God appears slightly different to different groups because their experiences are different. You get 5 blind people describing an elephant, and one sounds like they are describing a snake, one a tree, and one a rock.
As far as God just being created to control the masses, people who would be in control will find or make a way to do so.

Another good statement. It is there for you to explore not mis understand it.
God didnt create this. PEOPLE did. Those that dont take the time to try and fully understand things created it. Along with a number of statements that are impossible to believe.
Common sense plays such a huge role, yet alot get mis guided for what ever their reason is.
Im going to copy and paste type an answer I had wrote in another question.
This day and age people and history are being proven wrong with science and discovery. People become defensive quickly over it. And will go to great lengths to hide it. Or wont touch a discovery it so it doesn’t hurt that religion.
Every religion has misbelieves period, but a lot of it is to keep happiness, peace and understanding on a general level. Trying hard to get people to think on a moral level headed way.
I dont think there is really a wrong or a right its how you intrepid it and use it. Cause really some of it is truly hard to believe. Unfortunately so many people try to abuse that individual right by going to an extreme and silly, foolish, ignorant people follow it.
With all the different types of religion no one is 100% right. Its impossible. A bit of every religion is mixed into another to come up with their own system. The more a person knows the better understanding a person will have. One must have the ability to explore avenues and see the why’s and what’s and how’s other religions go to fully come up with their own right answer.
The idea of different races is to explore and become knowledgeable not ignorant and abuse it. Really think about it. Most of these books where written around a table with a number people putting in their input and argued over it. With a couple of stories that are just really hard to accept and swallow. Now do you think GOD guided them in that???? I don’t think so.

Because God gave us all free will.
People actually created different ethnicities, what really does it matter if one person is Asian and another is Hispanic. It's someting people name each other.
Being a different race isn't a reason to hate or to murder, again that's free will.
God doesn't appear as a different God to each race. An African American person and a Latino person can believe in the same God.
No the whole thing is not a crock.

We all are here to be tested. We must choose the right decision when faced with temptation. God is all knowing and he allows us to make our own decisions although he knows what every possible outcome of every situation will be. The test is if we will follow the correct path when its not the easy one. There is life after death and how we live our lives here on earth will determine how we live after the second coming. God the father of Jesus Christ has always been the same God. He has never appeared different to anyone and he has never spoken lies. His word is the truth and the light. He does live!

All men are the same flesh. The amounts of melanin in our skin not withstanding. We fight not because God made us different but because we have a disease called sin. A rebellion against God that causes hate, greed, and the lust for power.. That is why we fight... Jim

Or to think of it in a positive way, did God create the different ethnic groups to stir up love for those different than ourselves? If you love your friend, what glory is there in that? But if you love your enemy, if you do good to those who persecute you, then there is glory, and the end of bloodshed. Read the book of John in the New Testament. God doesn't need us, but we certainly need Him. Keep seeking to know Him.

Because man is not perfect, we are all born into sin and made of flesh so that even once we ask for forgiveness of our sins we end up sinning. But it is important to ask for forgiveness of our sins and to give ourselves to God wholly in order to get a place in Heaven most importantly but also to help us live more fruitlful lives and lives that are easier to resist sin.

It's all about free will. My Methodist Sunday school teacher explained that God created us with free will so that we could CHOOSE to follow him or not.
I chose to follow him a different way.
