Assuming you're being serious...
Dog's don't recognise different breeds. If you put say, two rotties together, they might play or fight, but it will not be because they are the same breed. Dogs recognise the canine in a dog, not the breed. They also don't care what size other dogs are generally, which is why Jack Russell's often seem to think they're rottweilers, and greyhounds often act like they're terrified little chihuahuas.

I don't think so.
I know they can tell what sex your dog is- male vs female... They may even be able to tell if your female dog is in heat, if you hang around your dog enough.
I agree, though that dogs can tell a lot from a couple well-placed sniffs.... I read one book that equated dogs' sniffing each other to an FBI background check- They can tell if you're sick or not, whether you're male or female, they can even tell what you've been eating and how your digestive tract is functioning!!!
But whether there is a distinct smell to each breed,.... I don't really think there is.
BTW- a funny thing- I used to deliver pizza, and one day, I delivered to this family that had THE funniest-looking dog ever!!! He was a Basset Hound/German Shepherd mix... Shepherd coat, tail and head on a Basset skeleton with the short bowed legs. Funniest thing I've ever seen!!!!
And I'm still trying to figure out how a Basset and a German Shepherd could do it...

No, dogs can't distinguish other breeds by scent alone.
However, a dog with eyes and a brain can make general breed distinctions upon sight.
My Cairn was once best friends with a Westie and a Pug - now she gets especially excited to see any Westie or Pug on the street.
My mastiff's arch-nemesis is a Golden Retriever. He becomes particularly agitated when he sees ANY golden retriever in the neighborhood.

I agree with Chalice, dogs are dogs, they don't really care what breed the other is. If dogs were concerned with breeds, I don't think we would have all the accidental mixes that we do! ;-)
