I usually boil the water first, add the eggs, then after boiling for about 12 minutes, they should be done.
Add salt for shells to remove easier

To make a hard boiled egg, put the egg/s in a pot with cold water. Bring it up to a boil, turn off the heat, place a cover on the pot and let it sit for 15 minutes.

It depends on whether you want the eggs soft boiled, medium boiled or hard boiled. The answer to all three are: Soft boiled are three minutes, medium boiled are seven minutes and hard boiled are ten minutes. If you over boil the eggs they will turn brown. Adding salt to the water while boiling the eggs makes them easier to peel after they are done to your liking.

Having recently moved, I've learned depending on how high you live that too could make a difference.
i used to live at sea level, now i'm up in the mtns and the hard boiled egg takes longer I"m told, but have yet to do it.
I tried to bake cookies the other day and they didn't come out right, for highler elevations I was told I have to reduce sugar, increase flour.
So back to eggs, it depends too on how high you are from sea level!

6 minutes, or 4 1/2 if you like the yokes a little softer.
And it doesn't depend on the number of eggs. 1 or 50 is the same cooking time. 6 minutes

About 3 minutes but it depends on what kind of eggs and how many. if you have one dozen it is 3 minutes, 2 dozen is 6 minues and 3 dozen is 9 minutes. so you add 3 minutes by the dozen.
