I can't seem to find the exact one you're talking about, but perhaps this one is similar?

This site sells many prints of religious art, and perhaps the people there could assist you in finding the specific painting you're looking for, if no one here can find it. :) Good luck!

This description seems to match the painting by Paul Gauguin "Ia Orana Maria" (Hail, Mary) 1891 in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
The child Jesus is sitting astride the shoulder of Mary, His head resting on hers, horizontally, and turned to face the viewer. They are portrayed as Tahitians. In the background are two Tahitian women and behind, a flowering bush or tree, is an angel.

If you look hard enough I am sure you will find an oriental Jesus too - the other guy said e-bay but if that does not work try out some religions that maintain Moses and jesus and every other biblical figure were in fact black.
I can't remember the name of the group but if you come to Toronto they hand out pamphelets on Sundays down town
I am sure that won't help you but it might steer your google searches a little better

This sounds like a Byzantine icon, both by the features you describe and by the effect it had on you.
In Byzantine icons, the saints have a darker skin tone than in Western religious art, which may make the curly head of Infant Jesus look Black. In fact, all those depicted are beyond "race". Also, Jesus Christ and saints that are depicted facing the beholder, making visible to us that, when we address them in prayer, they listen to us carefully. (If you are not Orthodox or Catholic: when we pray to saints we ask them to help us by praying to God for us.)
The tradition of icon painting has been preserved in Russia and other Orthodox Christian countries. However, now there are Orthodox Christian parishes in virtually any country. You might find it worthwhile to visit the one(s) in your area and ask your question there.
May the Lord our God give your wife eternal rest and grant you the finding of what you are searching for.
Christ is risen!
(This is the Orthodox Christian greeting for Pascha/Easter.)

In Liesse, France, there was a black Mary and Jesus statue in the roman catholic church there. The statue, however, was destroyed during the French Revolution but was replaced. The replica is still in the church there.
