Ok, it's Easter and always capital E. It starts with Ash Wednesday, which is in February. People go to church and receive ashes on their foreheads. After that day, there is a 40 day Lent period which ends in Easter. Lent is a period when people give something up for 40 days, like drinking alcohol, sex, smoking or something else they know they shouldn't be doing.

I'm going by my Catholic upbringing. There are also significant days during the 40 days. There is Palm Sunday, which is the Sunday one week before Easter Sunday. This is the day that Jesus entered Jerusalem. His followers scatters palms in his path. When you go to church on this day, you get palm leaves which are usually braided into crosses and hung in homes for a while. Palm Sunday is the end of the 40 day Lent period.

The Friday before Easter is known as Good Friday and practicing catholics do not work it is a very holy day. Good Friday is considered to be the day Jesus Christ died for our sins. The Sunday following is the day he was resurrected and went to heaven. That is Easter in a nutshell. Hope that explained it enough for you.

It varies, depends on your religious beliefs. Christmas is the only holiday Christians can agree on.
