If we, as humans, could one day travel to another solar system that has a planet just like earth, and on this planet was a species much like humans, in a state of advancement equivilient to our bronze age, would some among us choose to impersonate a god?
If this was a possibility, what would you do? Would you contact them? Would you watch them, to study them? Would you enslave them?

I would choose not to violate the prime directive.

Seriously..... I would advance their civilizations at a slow pace. You need to let their minds advance too. After a few generations, they would be fairly modern. I would not show them how to cause pollution, or screw up their planet like we did. Their planet would be so full of solar panels, and peace lovers, you would think you were in California.

Please keep this a secret. I go to this planet called Mydom everyday and play God. I don't want the rest of my fellow earthlings to know because:
First there would be a huge rush and all the nations would fight amongst themselves to get there and own as much land and alien people as they could. I wont be surprised if World War breaks out.
I don't think we would appear like God to them anymore because of our obvious greed and infighting.
And then how would I ensure that all my female slaves remain loyal to me.

European Christians traveled to other continents where people were less advanced... they enslaved them, stole their riches, raped the women, and murdered them. Then they told them it all happened because they didn't believe in God, so they better start believing if they don't want it to happen again. If Christians went to another planet, the same thing would happen.

I was under the impression that humanity did have the power - the Power of the Lord.
Okay, stop laughing.
Nice hypothetical question.
I think I'd leave them be, but I'm not a deluded monotheistic megalomaniac.

I think impersonating a deity wouldn't be necessary. All we'd have to do is land, try to communicate with them and leave. A few hundred years later a religion glorifying our divinity would be thriving. Ever read Ezekiel?

Cortez did that to the Aztecs............but they evetually saw through it after we virtually wiped them out and stole everything they had that was worth something.

I would hope we'd have the wisdom to encourage them to realise there is no God early in their development and help them avoid some of our mistakes and to overcome desease.

I think it would be unwise for us to interact in any way. It would be very interesting to watch their development though and see if their culture evolved along similar lines.
