IQ wise, we are getting smarter.
But, and this a big but, we sure are not acting smarter.
We have over polluted and overpopulated the planet and we could be only 50yrs away from it's total destruction, no thanks to our actions.
If we were as smart as we claim, we would have:
*Optimal population levels
* No wars
* Clean technologies with out much harm to the environment
* We would have eradicated most diseases
* A single world currency
* A single world language or a universal language
* A functioning UN
* More than 90% of the world would be real democracies
* Zero racism
Many of the world problems can be solved using distributed computing projects and in about 2-4yrs time. And guess how many people participate in them? Less than 1% of people who have computers. That is 1 of every 70000 of the world population.
I doubt we have evolved enough.

Einstein once said that when the honeybees die the human race will only have less than 10 years before it also is gone. The honeybees are dying in large numbers... now! It is common for beekeepers with hundreds of hives to open them in the spring and find every hive, dead. Humans can not expect to survive if the planet is poisoned.

Every living things are progressing, since man only speak, we think, we have reached end of evolution. Only technologically we have progressed. Physical changes being very slow, we can not detect any visible changes happening. Human generation in the year 3000 AD, may find very small difference, when they were shown a human body who was living in 2007 AD.

We should be responsible for our actions because what we do affects life on Earth. If there is like a meteor about to wipe us out, then that is not our fault, but if we live on Earth and cause damage to it, then we should be the ones to blame.

Humans are indeed "special". We are the only ones with the capability to destroy the environment we depend on for our lives. And, with our great intelligence, that is just what we are doing.

We are responsible for taking care of they planet. God Gave it to us and allowed us to name the animals and plants.
I guess when you name something you become more attached to it and interested in keeping it alive and well.
The problem is we insert ourselves into natural processes and think that somehow we can change a cycle. Sometimes by doing this we cause more harm than good. It is better to let nature take its course than to try to press our favorite outcome.
