Beware of that nuthouse 'luke w'.
He got Cahotlic, Protestant & Anglican mixed up!!!

Catholic was the first church found, and has developed a system of Pope as the representation of God on earth, hence the highest in command among mortals.

Protestant was found by Martin Luther, who was a catholic broke away from Vatican because he believed that true salvation can only come from good deeds done out of the kindness from the heart and soul, not just being baptised by Vatican priests and pay them as much money as you can or even beyond(check the history of French Revolution).

Anglican is the church found by Henry VIII, king of England so that he could conveniently divorce his wife, therefore he put himself as the highest command of the church on earth.

The schism between Catholic and Protestant began in the 1500s when a number of Northern European Christians began to object to the corruption and flaws within the Catholic Church. They then founded several different Christian Churches in protest.

Protestants pllace far more value in scripture than Catholics, Catholics place more in sacraments and sacramentals.

Catholics believe that Holy Communion is a commemoration of the Last Supper with Jesus truly present in the Eucharist after the Consecration of the Mass, whereas Protestants also believe that Holy Communion is a commemoration of the Last Supper but without Jesus present in the Bread and Wine, it is only Commemoration.

Many Protestant Churches allow their ministers to marry and the Church of England allows women ministers. However, the Catholic Church allows neither of these, but this is something many Catholics would like to see change.

"What separates us as believers in Christ is much less than what unites us." (Pope John XXIII)

Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.

Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):

By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.

There are many minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.

A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.

With love in Christ.

Pastor Billy says: there are several but there is also much which is in common.

The primary 3 are a division over teaching authority, complete revelation (scripture and holy tradition) and unity of doctrine.

Catholicism accepts the original teaching magisterium of the Christian Church, they accept God's revelation both of holy scripture and holy tradition and they profess a true mark of the Christian Church is it's oneness which includes oneness of doctrine and the absolute truth presented to us from God.

Protestantism and Catholicism still share for the most part the Christology of the Christian faith including the Roman Catholic doctrine of Trinity. Protestantism still shares the Roman Catholic New Testament canon with Catholics as well as an understand that our salvation is by God's grace.

As a Latin Catholic I continually pray for the full unity of Christianity and pray that the sway of bigots, racists and slanderers over many will fall away so that they can finally see Protestant and Catholic are Christian brethren.

the major distinction comes all the way down to the authority of the Church. Protestants do no longer settle for it, and for this reason something that relies upon upon that authority or the sacred oral custom that's preserved via the Church, is rejected via them. i replaced into raised Methodist, and switched over to Catholicism 14 years in the past. be at liberty to e-mail me once you've any certain questions. @Pinx - The Ascension is about Christ, no longer Mary. once you're going to attack Catholicism, you would favor to get the information instantly first. Mary replaced into "assumed" into heaven, which means God took her up, body and soul. Christ ascended into heaven, less than his own divine means, because he's God. there's a huge distinction and Catholics know that. i did not even examine something of your positioned up heavily, i could in simple terms see it replaced into full of in simple terms as many misconceptions.

PERHAPS..... This Question should include "CHRISTIAN" Beliefs ALSO?

GENERIC Christianity hold to a list of beliefs = MANY of which Are NOT BIBLICAL!

True Christians [John 3:3-to-7 -& John 7:38-39 -&- Ephesians 1:12-13-14] HOLD to the Finished WORK OF CHRIST JESUS!

"NOTHING" can add to That Work of GRACE and TRUTH! No sacraments, no offerings, no lent or ANY OTHER THING can add to THE COMPLETED REDEMPTION OF MANKIND by Christ Jesus!

IN ADDITION..... True Christians BELIEVE in the Complete Authority of the Holy Scriptures as Jesus said in Matthew 4:4 and Luke 4:4 and theses....

(2Timothy 3:12-to-17) Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus = = shall suffer persecution.

(2Ti 3:13) But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, = = deceiving, and being deceived.

(2Ti 3:14) But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned = and hast been assured of, = knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

(2Ti 3:15) And that from a child thou hast known = = the holy scriptures, = = which are able to make thee wise unto salvation = = through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

(2Ti 3:16) All SCRIPTURE = = is given by inspiration of God, = = and is profitable for doctrine, = = for reproof, = = for correction, = = for instruction in righteousness:

(2Ti 3:17) That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

HOPE that helps You!

Thanks, RR

Catholicism was formed by Pedro by Jesus commandement and protestants churchs were formed by those who didn't want to abide by Caths rules and beliefs. I personally don't believe in anything made by a rebel.

I was born into a family that is still to this day catholic. Since my early 20's have changed. Here is the most important of MANY reasons why.

I have 100% faith that the Jesus Christ, whom I worship, defeated death for my sins. It was paid IN FULL. There is nothing I can do to add to His amazing gift.

Catholics believe that they go to purgatory, a place of purification at death, to pay for their sins even more.

MY JESUS is strong enough to have paid for mine so that I will recieve Him at my death! I cannot, in no way, lose my free gift of salvation that He gave me. A catholic will tell you that if he dies in "mortal" sin, (all sin is equal, this also is a lie straight from the pit of hell) he will not see heaven.

Long winded, but I hope this helps!
