Heh, invariably you'll get the answer that god didn't create sin. Even though this is a straight out statement of limitation for their supposedly omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent creator.
To quote that strangest of proverbs, "you can't have your cake and eat it too."

Many homosexuals hold to the belief that they were born that way, and there are some researchers who suggest, on the basis of several recent studies, that there may be a genetic predisposition toward homosexuality in some people. However, even those who argue this believe that certain environmental factors would also have to be present for the condition to develop. In any case, other scientists have challenged these studies, and there is presently no generally accepted scientific evidence that the homosexual inclination is inborn. Also, in a broken world, the discovery of a genetic link would not prove that such a condition was God's intent.
It must be emphasized that even if a biological predisposition to homosexuality in some people exists, it would not change God's opposition to the behavior. Neither would it change the fact that through the transforming power of Jesus Christ freedom from sinful behavior is always available. In addition, many strugglers discover growing heterosexual attractions as they address underlying problems with the help of competent Christian support and counseling.
A recent book which discusses genetics and homosexuality is "Homosexuality and the Politics of Truth" by Dr. Jeffrey Satinover. For a practical guide to overcoming homosexuality, the book "Coming out of Homosexuality" by Bob Davies and Lori Rentzel would be helpful. These books would be available through most Christian bookstores or by contacting Regeneration Books, P. O. Box 9830, Baltimore, Maryland 21284-9830, telephone: (410) 661-4337. Exodus International North America—P. O. Box 540119, Orlando, Florida, 32854, telephone: (888) 264-0877—provides information about homosexuality and Christian ministries which help those impacted by homosexuality.

Leaving God out of the homosexual thing...what evolutionary purpose do they serve? They do not naturally reproduce. DOn't give me any crap about how that's okay b/c we have technology for that now b/c many think human evolution ended as culture developed. Also "gay" is a western construct. While switch hitting may show up partially cross- culutraly many other cultures would reject our view of homosexuality. There is a tribe in the south pacific that boys have relations with men to "ingest" their warrior spirit, but that tribe has no "homosexuality" as defined by the west. Human sexuality is very complex an I can see people wanting to play around, but complete avesion to opp sex or sole intrest in same sex only limits your sarwinian fitness. I think its western construct blown out of proportion.
ALso, your question is not as one atheist implied a brilliant critique of religion. take a philosophy course, it is an unanserable question the way you put it. It's like saying "can God make a rock so big he can't lift it?" These are pointless questions

My dear friend ,
The human mind has created homosexuals and not the God.
When the mind is 100% free from all the hatred, illwill, animosity, anger from the deepest bottom and becomes crystal clear, really pure and then that mind is filled with pure love , comapssion, Sympathatic joy and Equanimity. Then such a state of mind is free from all the sufferings of life and is truely liberated.
Till the mind is filled with defilments, the question from your mind comes from darkness(ignorace), and once the Light ( Wisdom) is lighted all the darkness will automatically disaapear and you will see the turth that ,the homosexuality is nothing but ,a sickness of mind which can be cured 100%.
Be Joyfull.
"Start the day with love,
fill the day with love, end the day with love: this is the way to peace."
LET PEACE AND PEACE AND PEACE BE EVERYWHERE..
Strive to be Happy

Your question has several presumptions. First is that homosexuality is entirely determined at birth. Its like its in your genes. If this presumption was correct then we'd expect all identical twins to be either straight or gay. But science tells us that if one identical twin is gay there is a 50/50 chance that the other identical twin is gay also... So at best your genes contribute to your sexual identity but do not entirely determine it. Things you do, things you think, things which you never gave much thought to at the time, could all have contributed to your gayness.
Second presumption is that the gay person must live a active homosexual lifestyle. This is like saying we cannot control our sexual activity. Look at people who join the Catholic priesthood... Assume some are straight and some are gay. A straight man who joins the Catholic priesthood would be expected to live a celibate life, so would the gay person who joins the Catholic priesthood. So it is with you... A person who finds himself with gay tendencies is expected to live a holy life. He is expected to renounce homosexuality, and devote his life to God.
So God created everything. He did not force anyone to be a homosexual, but some people have a genetic tendency in that direction. He will allow people with a tendency toward homosexuality into heaven, but they must life a holy life. If they should stumble and fall at times (everybody sins at times), they must ask God for forgiveness and take steps to avoid the next occasion to sin. This is called santification.

Once again, I'll remind everyone that many (possibly most) Christians don't believe that God hates GLBTs. (A lot of people think "Fundamentalist" when they hear "Christian" Though!)
I'm sure the Fundamentalists would say that sexual behavior is a sin that people either choose or are tempted by. They'll also say that "Love the sinner, hate the sin" thing.
But there are a lot of people that just don't think God will not allow homosexuals into heaven.

According to the Bible, God washes even the worst sins from his people.
1 Corinthians 5:9-11 -- "Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor practicing homosexuals nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."

God does not allow theives, covetous, drunkards, revilers, or extortioners to INHERIT the kingdom of God. I Corinthians 6:10.
He; (God, the Eternal) is good. This is why we should love Him and want to obey Him. We will all be judged by God during the Great White Throne Judgement.
According to the Bible many will be surprised when they announce that they have cast out demons, and did many wonderful works in God's name and God says "I never knew you, depart from me." Mathew 7:21-27.

sorry to be a lawyer here but following your logic you could say the same about murderers, adulterers, and thieves. But why stick to bad examples - if you take it further then why should kind people be rewarded for their kindness - didn't God create them with that kindness? (or at least the concept as you said)
Basically your question comes down to an issue of fate vs. free will - good luck answering that..

God created everything & his presence permeates through everything, but he also created us with a conciousness and gave us choice and a system of rules - we take our choices - god knows of them but does not get in the way - after all we have been told of consequences of our choices.
I'm a muslim - & as i understand it - homosexuality is not reccomended - but the only reason one would not get into the 'kingdom' of heaven is if one denies God.
