Marine fish drink water to replenish fluids. Freshwater fish pass water through their skin, so they don't drink it.

they dont really need to 'drink' water 'cause it's not like they have chances of getting dehydrated or anything (like duh!)
their bodies stay moisturised because of all the water around them and any liquid they need for the inside, they get when they gulp water to extract oxygen.
so technically, fish do drink water 'cause it goes in through their mouths but it comes out through their gill flaps (so its not likely that you'd find one standing cross legged looking for a restroom)
