The flat earth society likes to divide evolution into categories:
micro-evolution (small changes within a species), for which there is so much evidence that no sane individual can deny it.
and
macro-evolution (changes from one species to another), for which there is also a ton of evidence, but most of it is somewhat circumstantial and requires a little bit of study and intelligence to make sense of it (niether of which is in great supply in creationist circles)
So by accepting micro while rejecting macro-evolution, they raise themselves from moronic to just ignorant. I guess that's better than nothing.

Mutation is only a part of evolution - a key part to be sure, but there are other factors as well. As to why some Christians don't believe it, it is because they probably don't understand what evolution REALLY means, because they have been told it means something other than what it really does. Some people still believe the Earth is flat, but that doesn't mean that it is. Also, it isn't just Christians that don't necessarily believe that evolution is real - I've seen some Muslims that think the same thing. Of course, they have zero evidence, but some people will believe whatever they want to believe, whether it is true or not, because unfortunately that is a part of human nature in our times.

Evolution is defined as change in the genetic structure of any given species over time. They can avoid the issue and call it adaptation or mutation but it's still evolution. Furthermore to accept micro-evolution one must either automatically accept macro-evolution or provide a biological mechanism that would limit the amount of evolutionary change a species undergoes.

This is the part I don't get. If you have say, a monkey that mutates and walks erect or some other thing that is human-like, from what I've seen on the Discovery Channel, the other monkey's will kill it. It would most certainly be an outcast from the tribe (do monkey's have tribes, groups or clans? Well, whatever they call it). It would most certainly never mate with a "normal" monkey, so how would it populate?
How can something "prove to be a superior trait" if the species itself will kill the mutation to preserve the species?
None of it makes any sense, it would be nice if evolution could be proven with a species that exists now.

Does the mutation make the animal a different animal? I would think not! I have never heard of an animal in modern times turning into another animal.
Anyway, most mutations are harmful, not helpful. http://www.darwinismrefuted.com/mechanisms06.html

I truely do believe that that mutation is the essence of the theory of evolution. But I just don't believe in evolution.

Christians acknowledge micro evolution. It is a fact! However, macro evolution (i.e. one species changing into another species) has not been proved!! Think of it this way, yes, some species carry the same characteristics. However, that doesn't mean one species changed into another species. Even when Ford and GM build new cars, they don't start from scratch. They use some things from previous models that they know works well. I believe that explains the similarities between species.

1. Evolution takes away from their objective morality.
2. Evolution neither offers political power nor does it give people a posthumous reward.
In short, Evolution keeps people from being socially and intellectually lazy and it doesn't allow them to think that they can compete and win against the inevitability of death.

not all. the catholic faith recongnizes both creation and evolution. obviously evolution had and still does occur. we continue to evolutionate (or mutate). faith is important but we should not get so wrapped up in it to realize that there IS science to it. Also, there must be creation that started it all, not just a big bang. SMILES
