Probably, but it's not something that I wouldn't do - if you don't ask, you don't get!
Good luck with the lady in question,
Andy :-)

Is asking dates to come to your wedding with wedding invitations through the mail crass and tacky? Of course not.
I've done this many times, and if you'll notice there is a program called Microsoft Outlook that allows people in corporate america to set up "dates" with their employees via massive distribution capability of email notes
Besides writing letters is quite archaic these days.
Using the phone is actually more intrusive. That's why so many people use text messaging. That's email, just a different form of it.

I'd rather break the ice over the phone than not speak to someone until you finally meet up for coffee... that is if you've just met... and that is if I were still dating. I don't think it's necessarily tacky - I'd just rather get a feel for how things might go during the date with a phone call - it's preparation!

Email, buddy that's pretty tacky. Face her and tell her your
intrest, you'll come out smelling like a rose.

Someone just asked me out on a dinner date today through the email, and I said I would love to. Go for it!

Just ask the person out!!!!
Youve posted this sort of Q for the second time so you must like the person. Go on - nothing to lose!

considering that people no longer write letters, I don't see why people can't invite someone for coffee via an email...

its very CORNY seriously. please dont consider doing this, be it with your colleagues, subordinates or the date you've been wanting to. this is only appropriate if you're sending it to like, close friends REALLY close, or relatives. yup.
