Religion is not their cup of tea. Most of them profess to be a christian but do not practise it.

For one thing, there are far more religions in the US than just Christianity and Judaism. Also, many people who are privately Christians or Jews feel no particular need or desire to gather for services every week.
There are indeed a lot of agnostics and atheists in the US, as well. But we can't say how many on the basis of who gets up and gets dressed in fancy clothes and goes to church or temple every week.

Places to go, people's rights to violate? Oh, wait...sorry. Places to go less important things to think about. Oh, wait...sorry. Just don't have time, what with work and family and all. Who does? Oh, wait...sorry. The better question would be why does anyone in America do or not do anything they do? Why do we charge money for food when no one can live without it? Where in the world did we get the idea that it was ok to charge for WATER when 2/3 of the planet is water? What idiot came up with the idea of charging for AIR?? What? like he produces it??

I used to be that way, too.
I suggest to keep attending different Churches to see where you feel most accepted/ comfortable with the other members.
It took us about 7 church visits, now we really like the Pastor. He's a modern guy with traditional teachings. I really like it more and more each and every time I attend.
I have learned that we sin is within us, it is a battle everyday to resist becoming a slave to sin.
How many people do you know who are slaves to drugs, alcohol, sex, crime, greed, hatred, etc?
Through, and only through, Jesus Christ, can you be forgiven of your sins and recieve eternal life.
Think about that as a gift! If I paid off all your credit cards, car loans, mortagage, etc, would you want to know me? Or tell your friends about me?
That's what Jesus has done for you when it comes to your sin!
Jesus Lives!

I'd like to know where you got those statistics...was this based on a survey that perhaps polled 1,000 people or even 10,000 people with a 35% result? I would believe it either way, but I also believe that over 90% of those believers do not have full knowledge of their belief in its entirety
shame that figure is close to being fact

Because we are like any other nations, we have left God out of the picture. If our fore-fathers would see what America is doing today, Kicking the bible out of school, in favor or gay marriages, & so on. They would tear up every person & sink them in the ocean. Yes I am an American.

Are you addressing the Christians in USA, this ratio with reference to their total number and other Americans USA, is too high.
Christians are converting to Islam, and rest of them are being Atheists, so Christianity is now a least followed religion in the world. (I mean the nos. of people actually following the teachings of it).
