Is it because they are unable to see the good things in their own lives and only focus on what they dont have and the bad things that happened?

There are far to many people like that these days and it also seems the more people have the worse they get There`s a hollywood life style culture that people think they`re entitled to and when they don`t get it(as most people don`t )instead of accepting and making the best of what were given people are looking around for scape goats to blame .
Governments play on this and use spin to direct these sort of feelings towards a certain group (The one which suits their agenda at the time .)this mass hatred enables them to get away with vile behaviour that normal people wouldn`t other wise tolerate. Its happened time and again through out history .
This is the way the German people let the Nazis commit the horror they did and now onlly 60 years later its happening again .
People need to let go of bad feelings and hatred .because if they don`t it takes them over and the hate and bitterness becomes like a sickness in society
All religions warn against this and advise fogivness as this is the only way the" victim"will find peace in their own life .

Well, people today become bitter and twisted because of our liberal system that has been in place since the late sixties.

When the modern day liberals started out, it was a given that anything and everything that happened in anyone's life was someone else's fault. We have come to a point that almost every person is a victim of something. Many in our government and schools are these modern day liberals that point their fingers at others for their own failings.

Perfect example: Rosie O'Donnell. She is bitter and hateful because the Christian religion will not accept her lifestyle. So she denounces Christianity all the time. Note: it is not the intent of people like Rosie to destroy Christianity. She wants to force Christianity to accept her new set of morals. So she can be part of the group.

Bitter and twisted? Usually because of focusing on the bad things. But sometimes there really are a lot of bad things, and yet a person is able to smile and remain a pleasant person to be near. Often, I think it's being too alone.

People who are bitter and depressed are difficult to be around, and any friends they have must make a special effort to stick by them, put up with their attitudes, and gradually let them see that they are not alone, they do not have to give up.

My Steve committed suicide. He was not alone, because I was there, but I was his only close friend. He could convince himself he was doing me a favor by removing a burden when he killed himself. Therefore, I have concluded that I am the only person who could NOT have saved him. But perhaps having another friend who could tell him how much he would hurt me, and how much he would hurt his mother and even the sister who rarely spoke to him, might have made the difference. Perhaps a friend who could offer optimism for the future in a way he did not draw from me . . . who knows? All I know is that when someone is hurting, they need friends.

Life can be cruel and it can make you bitter. I think basically it is a lack of love and caring. People abuse you, and you develop a shell.
Take my mother. Abandoned by her father, she and her two sisters were put in an orphanage. An older sister was taken in by her grandmother. One sister died, the other two were mistreated. The "carers" were cruel and unfeeling. My mother then married a drunken womaniser, joined a religious cult, lost all her money and developed health problems. And yes, she is bitter! Basically, we all need love to show it.

It's Because they dont have god in their lives to show them the way. HAHA. Thats Bull. People become messed up because of facts realities. People who are bitter seem to be a little more insightful then those who arn't. Ignorance Is Bliss as they say.

Due to misfortune, depression, frustration, etc. Iv'e seen some dying or already dead. Don't judge them, you are just lucky you don't have what they bear. You can't really ask a question like this if you were there. The best thing for them is to survive as stronger ones afterward. If they are unable, they perish.

Yes I do know people like that. There are several reasons but the biggest is because they do not forgive and constantly stir up the emotions associated with any wrong done to them. Because of this they usually end up looking at the worst side of everything and stewing on how horrible everyone is to them. Bitterness is very selfish and egocentric.

I have to deal with sick people on a day to day basis and they are all bitter and twisted. I dont' know whether their illnesses have turned them that way or whether their own poison made them so ill. They wish you were like them and they want you to understand and accept the way they are and expect you to just deal with it. I refuse to of course, but I have no other choice but to listen to their poisonous words every day.

Bad experiences, perhaps traumatising ones that give a different view of the world other than the mainstreem.

Jelousy and greed for what they dont have, i.e what you said.

Frustration, when they cant get what they want though they have given so much effort. No Patients

It seems to me that bitter and twisted is a way of not owning responsibility for the creation of your reality, I am using the word 'your' collectively here not to anyone personally
