The Philippines is a deeply supersitious country (I know coz I grew up there). Based on my observations, many believe in luck, good and bad, and has associated it with their belief in God, that the more religious they are, the richer they become. However, they thought that the closer you are to a priest makes you closer to God.
As a poor nation, most citizens believe in faith healers...(at least in the rural areas).
What has these things have in connection to faith and faith practice?
Though I did not directly state how those things I said is connected to spiritism, the bible verse belows prohibits anything that has to do with spiritism as it comes from unclean spirits.
Deuteronomy 10 -There should not be found in you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, anyone who employs divination, a practicer of magic or anyone who looks for omens or a sorcerer, 11 or one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional foreteller of events or anyone who inquires of the dead.
The sad thing is religious clergy has not corrected the way of thinking of the Filipinos regarding spiritism, I remember that a certain faith healer (catholic) in our area is also in charge of church activities...
The people could be religious but the way they live their life is entirely different especially if they are blinded by their faith, faith which is not based on accurate knowledge.

a big problem the Philippines face is the American interference , and the propping up of corrupt inept leaders. add to that the wars America fought in Philippines, the concentration camps America set up there. American atrocities, In 1908, Manuel Arellano Remondo, in a book entitled General Geography of the Philippine Islands, wrote: “The population decreased due to the wars, in the five-year period from 1895 to 1900, since, at the start of the first insurrection, the population was estimated at 9,000,000, and at present (1908), the inhabitants of the Archipelago do not exceed 8,000,000 in number.”
U.S. attacks into the countryside often included scorched earth campaigns where entire villages were burned and destroyed, torture (water cure) and the concentration of civilians into “protected zones” (concentration camps). Many of the civilian casualties resulted from disease and famine. Reports of the execution of U.S. soldiers taken prisoner by the Filipinos led to savage reprisals by American forces. Many American officers and soldiers called war a “****** killing business”. once America quit screwing with Philippines by suppressing its economy, propping up leaders, they will be fine. my country got rid of its Christian colonizers, now we are fine.

It would be fair to say that their religion is not the only cause of the problems experienced by the people of the Philippines.

Religion is not the problem in the Philippines. It would be worse if the Catholic Church is not there. The politician's thievery and pillaging would go unchecked. Also, the country would probably still be run by the family of Marcos if not for the Church. You have short memory, brother.
Peace and every blessing!

Grace must be built in nature. All our prayers are futile without the collaboration of human effort. Religion gives Filipinos hope that later on in the end the good will prevail.

that's genuine a lot of folk locate help in believing there is more advantageous. And it really helps human beings flow ahead ehen they locate themselves in difficult challenge. we see that. notwithstanding it also creates a lot hate and adjustments between human beings. a number of the religious human beings i know, are the most judgemental you'll ever meet. And once you blend unfaithful issues into authentic life, the outcomes will be undesirable. IE politics and preparation. preparation the human beings is BTW the most succsessful unmarried element to get rid of both poverty and social adjustments. faith (in maximum places) do precisely the different. you could ask your self this: If human beings in poorer international locations, studied the thanks to make funds, and make a contribution to make a more advantageous positive society, (infrastructure, economic gadget, politics and so on) fairly of analyzing the bible, could they no longer be a lot less unfavorable? faith is likewise very usually used to regulate the thousands, and to emphasize certain "morals" that are literally not necesarrily solid. There are numerous religious leaders who prey on gullible human beings. we do not favor to trust in fairytales in our western society. there's a diploma the position faith receives contained in the way of progression. i'm speaking about those who positioned each and everything contained in the fingers of god, and do not do something themselves. in case you study fairly of pray, you receives more advantageous. in case you visit a wellbeing care professional fairly of a clergyman, you receives more advantageous positive, and so on.. once you're saying we've not something to seem for, and no motivation. i thoroughly disagree. i attempt to stay my life to the fullest, because I in simple terms have one. so that's my motivation. via all means, search for position self assurance in regardless of god you want, yet do not enable it get on your way(like maximum religious human beings do). imagine for your self

I doubt that they are very reliant on their faith. They're probably mostly "catholic by name" like a lot of Mexicans and Italian-Americans.
