Depends if you actually get it in the right place. But its way too risky, I would hate to be a veggie or drooling idiot with half-a-brain. Remember these thoughts pass. I hope this was just a hypothetical question!

Basically, no you would not hear the weapon discharge if the bullet really penetrated your brain. The disruption of the nerves would actually not respond to the sound but would select to identify the shutting down of the body functions.

See what happens is when the bullet penetrates the skull the difference in pressures usually cause parts of the cells to experience a type of seismic shock whereas; they simply blow-up causing no function at all. then from the bullet travelling deeper the pressure becomes greater and the skull cavity explodes out the back or side and usually causes the ear drum to be disrupted. This also happens even if you use a very low caliber weapon.

Now lets say you miss, even a deep graze will cause this effect to the head. Your brain would have a shock impact where the bullet grazed and again probably you would hear no sound.

Keep in mind a shock to the brain in such instances is instantaneous so, the brain react instantaneously.

I would say, get some help and do some praying>

No you wouldnt....the speed of the bullet will have about 0.1 seconds to destroy the areas of the brain (temporal and parietal) that are in charge of registering and interpreting sounds...
That would be the least of the concerns of anybody with a gun poiting towards his (her) head....

yes of course you would. the sound would register before death because it takes several seconds for you to actually die. when someone is decapitated, there's still enough oxygen reserves in the non-perfused brain for that person to remain conscious for up to 10 seconds. unless the bullet were to destroy your auditory centers, your brain would almost certainly register the sound of the bang before death occurs.

absolutely fantastic question!!!
i often wondered this myself, but of course, i'm not prepared to try it !!!!!
i think you probably wouldn't hear it go off, because the bullet would kill you before your brain had time to register what the sound was.
i dont suggest you test out the theory though lol

yes you do initially hear it, but by the time the sound computes in your brain as a gun shot, you are dead...

i don't know, you can only run on theories unless you are prepared to attempt it (i REALLY don't recomment that though).

i dont think your brain would have time to register the sound though before it shut down from the bullet's impact

I'm not really sure. I would not suggest you try this. If you do and live, let us know.
