Yes, it is a religion of peace. The sword, as spoken in Matthew is not a real sword, the sword is a symbol of ones belief of God and Jesus. The sword is the word of God. So, one maybe at odds with family members as to what is right or righteous, and so Jesus says use the Sword ( the word of God ) to deliver his message to them.
One must remember that many people at that time did not believe in Jesus or God, and often families were divided on that issue.

Matthew 10:34-39 (New Living Translation)
34 “Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword.
35 ‘I have come to set a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
36 Your enemies will be right in your own household!’[a]
37 “If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine.
38 If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine.
39 If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.
Commentary:
"Christian commitment may separate friends and loved ones. In saying this, Jesus was not encouraging disobedience to parents or conflict at home. Rather, he was showing that his presence demands a decision. Because some will follow Christ and some won't, conflict will inevitably arise. As we take up our cross and follow him, our different values, morals and goals will set us apart from others. Don't neglect your family, but remember that your commitment to God is even more important than it is. God should be your first priority."

Off the right of my head, i could say "The Royal Tenenbaums" will be a touch solid contendor. BQ: Goodness is acquainted with! i appreciate such a lot of! that's more durable to respond to, than a non-violent action picture lol. ok i will say Reservoir dogs, like the damaged record that i'm :) BQ2: extremely-violent? conflict Royale per chance....i'm certain i could do more advantageous positive than that although. i'm a horror action picture queen lol. i'm leaving artwork in 30 seconds, for this reason the large quick answer. If i can do more advantageous positive than BR i will edit. hi Tamara! Edit: Awww hi :D hmmm, no Reservoir dogs is not in simple terms violent (it is also humorous and brilliantly written) i replaced into in simple terms naming my commonplace action picture with violence! Gahhh that's more durable than i assumed :) is not any violent action picture also a movie about something else?.. in case you be conscious what I mean. yet when it really is organic violence you're after, my commonplace action picture with "in simple terms" violence could probable be a horror action picture like the Texas Chainsaw massacre (unique) or per chance a warfare action picture, yet even then i'm not basic pushed to imagine of a movie that's in simple terms organic violence and under no circumstances something else. except for something like Hostel, which in simple terms highly sucks dick. The action picture 'Scum' reflects scary, life like violence interior a boy's detention center yet nonetheless....i'm attempting to imagine and would almost listen blades swishing throughout the time of with the occasional "ahh" noise. Nah, gonna supply up...my lasagne is almost waiting! Tamara <3

The most "Christian Nation" on the planet is also the most heavily armed with the most heavily armed populace and has been fighting constant wars of aggression. They also have extremely high rates of murder and theft.
Kind of knocks your statement about peacefulness or nonviolence for a loop.

In Christianity it consists of many religions who believe God, the existence of God, His teachings and doctrines and obeys the law of God for good and not for violence. Love to fellow humans is emphasize in christian religion.
In Mathew Chapter 10, verses 34 to 39, it should not be translated on its lateral meaning. He came to earth to have spiritual fight with those who do not believe God, spritual fight against those who hate God and will use his power as God against them.
And in one family, if the son have b elief on Jesus while the father or mother has no faith in God, the son be separated on the truth about God which caused a fight on spiritual belie betweeen them.f.
He have emphasized that when you love your father and mother more than Jesus as God, you are not for God, same is true to a Son and daughter .
A man who do not want to suffer hardship as he have suffered and do not want to follow Jesus and who do not want to obey Jesus is against Him (Jesus)
He further stated that ;anyone who love another man to save his life will lost his life but a man who lost his life because of Jesus, he could find life.
What Jesus want to implant there is the Love of God above all because God is our creature who give us liife and blessings to live.

true people turn against each other over the bible but what I do is I don't worry about what others believe. I will witness to them but if people don't want to believe that fine I will follow Christ. I could do better yes. people fight and shoot each other over the bible than anything else.

Aren't you a little too old to be wrapped up in this whole religion thing?
Cheer up, old man. You don't need to worry about it.
