People in countries where they haven't been given everything have a closer relationship to God. They have more miricles. The have more answered prayer. People who have everything already don't really depend on God for their needs, they mostly depend on themselves.

There are a very few differencences between the Eastern and Western rites, stemming mainly around whether the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father or from the Father and the Son. There is also a difference in how the two calculate the date for Easter each year.
The Eastern rite has also maintained the tradition of abstaining from certain foods throughout Lent: meat, fish, fowl, eggs, cheese, milk, oil.
Other than that, not much comes to mind.

I'm not sure I'd say it's been a "victim" of it, but it certainly bears with it the flavors of the cultures that follow it. The difference is the same difference east/west as it is black/white (and no, I don't mean that racially). I've been to "black church," and I'm white and grew up in "white church" and there's very little they have in common, unless you're a white pentecostal, perhaps. Black (or if you prefer afro-american, I apologize, no offense is intended and I take no responsiblity for anyone who insists on being offended) people worship in ways that they are comfortable with because of their culture, just as white (and if you prefer to be called caucasian, see the above parenthetical phrase) people do, and, I assume, the way eastern Christians do. I think that God is happy with us all, as we are His highly valued children.

You need to have a look at the history of the Roman empire and you'll find the seeds of the difference.
After the two became seperate, each developed different modifications over the years until the evolved into what they are today.

Sadly to say,I believe the east I agree with David! but I believe that even if that is true it will have no bearing on us not getting to go to Heaven! As long as we believe in Jesus because He said "WHO SO EVER BELIEVITH IN ME SHALL NOT PERISH"!
