If they have been calling or dropping in at your place of business, send them a "limited" cease and desist.
Never send a "full" cease and desist if you are still within the collecting SOL. It would give them no other choice but to either sue you or sell the debt, since they would have no way to try to collect the debt.
Collection agencies are not legally required to stop unless the request is made in writing.
Example of a limited cease and desist:
I am requesting, in writing, that no telephone contact be made by your offices to my home or place of business as it is inconvenient to me.
All future communications by you must be done in writing and sent by USPS to the address noted in this letter.
Be sure to include the word - inconvenient - that word is the reason for the "no verbal contact" in the opinion of the FTC
You might click on my profile and do some reading in the links I have listed - to the FDCPA, FCRA, etc.
Learn your rights and learn how to use them.

You can tell them not to contact you at work.
Say this, " Federal Law requires that you cannot contact me at work about a private debt. Please give me your Identification, company affiliation, and name for the lawsuit that will be persued".
Sorry that I can't give you the statute, but they will know it.
Home phone is not covered.

I don't know about coming into your workplace but I do know that they can call you at work. If they do call and you tell them not to call you at your work number if they have an alternate number to call you at they are not supposed to continue calling you at that number. You are able to report their agency for calling you at your work number after you tell them not to. I recently did this and they have respected my wish not to be called at work.

They can, unless you tell them not to bother you at work.
