I like this girl but she goes to school out of state, what do I do?

I've known this girl for a few months. I like her but she probably has no idea that I like her, or she probably does (i think she does know). anyways, i want to make a move on her but i haven't because she goes to school out of state and i dont wanna do something like a long-distance relationship. heck for all i know she may not even be interested but she gives all these mixed signals. what should i do? i want her to know i like her, but i cant really do anything about it because she isnt around often for us to go out or anything.

she has called me the nice guy or whatever before but i've really cut down on that kind of stuff. i dont do things for her, but i do try to keep in contact with her.

i am also fearing that i am in the "friends zone", and i dont wanna be in it if i am. any suggestions/comments from you all? any help would be appreciated. i dont want to ignore her, but i also want to be a challenge. Thanks.
