TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran said on Sunday it would not discuss its "obvious right" to master the nuclear fuel cycle but was open to talks that could reassure the West that its atomic plans were not aimed at producing bombs.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini also told a weekly news conference the Islamic Republic's military was "totally prepared to defend the country and Iran is totally prepared for any possible military strike."
Iran's action recently and in the past scream out at us We must topple Iran we must act NOW .
Iran has no rights to nuclear fuel and we must make it clear they must not have it and back that rightful demand up
I do not like the idea of war I never have - But if we don't stop them now while we have a chance that window will close and they will unleash nuclear weapons on anyone they choose without thought or regaurd to life
I am convinced that Iran has placed the world in a them or us situation.
I choose us

Then you will wake up one day with your wife and daughter covered from head to toe - You will pray 5 times a day and someone will tell you if and when you can read the papers If that doesn't suit you I am sure Iran will arrange radiation poisoning for you and a few thousand in your town
As for my participation ? Yes I believe that we must stop Iran I will be happy to go - (sort of) It is a situation where iran is making us choose us or them
I am sorry you choose them to live
I choose us
Remember this is in fact a situation that could be stopped by Iran anything hereafter has Iranian fingers on the trigger

Oil will run out sooner or later
Nuclear power as in a generator sure
WE run it we gaurd it and they give us a discount off the price of oil for not having to kill them Now that would be logic they can follow

I just tonight read this condensed biography on their president. I have no doubt he will use nuclear weapons if he had them. He repeatedly speaks of "cleaning the earth" of Israel. Israel will get nuked by Iran, if that leader has the means to do so.

I hate repeating myself, but,
Iran has attacked no one. In fact, it was first abandoned by the U.S. and the West and then drawn into an eight-year war with Iraq, during which the U.S. and the West armed both sides to the teeth. Many of the supplied weapons were illegal, unethical and immoral.
If Iran’s rhetoric and tirades against such duplicity seems over the top, what student of 20th-century history can blame the country? It has been royally shafted over the decades, even when Iranians elected a democratic government only to have it ousted by the U.S.and replaced by the Shah as a very cruel dictator.
While the U.S., U.K., France and others openly defy the international accords against nuclear arms proliferation and the illegal market in armaments, many in the west have the gall to haul Iran over the coals and give the West a free pass to get out of jail.
Iran is a much better global citizen than either the U.S. or Israel, and yet their crimes often go unreported and sometimes praised.

I was born and raised a Baha'i. I have never been to Iran but all of my life I have live around refugees from Iran. When the Islamic revolution happened altho of Baha'i's were killed. The refugees I know escaped, some of them from the prisons where they had been kept because of their faith. All I know is that I am scared of the Iranian government. They are very bad men in the Iranian government, who want people like me dead because they see the Bahia's as threat to their power. But I also think attacking them will not work. It seems to me that they are trying to bait the western country's into attacking. Realistically if they are attacked then I think there will be another world war. The people who are in power on ALL sides can not be trusted because they are ALL drunk with power or something. Hate never solves anything, and war can not exist with out hate. The only thing to fix hate is love. I know that Iran is scarier, but violence is not an answer. Right now the 10% of the population which controls the majority of the wealth is trying to make us SCARED. when people are scared its easier to control them. I for one am sick of being scared so that the upper-class can get richer. They are trying to distract us from the problems we have at home. What about the people who have to work the 12 hour day so they can maintain life at a level of comfort? All this while they make money from us. I don't want to be exploited anymore. That is why I say no to war. I choose us too, but war is not the way. thanks.

I think most of this has been answered. A lot of good feed back. However I do believe North Korea is the most threatening and it will be the main region for nuclear warfare to strike.
I say this because you can negotiate with the Iranian but not the Koreans. They are hard nuts.

Prior to their ability to release a nuclear weapon..yes; absolutely.
Until we can establish with a high degree of confident that they do indeed have nuclear weapons (which is different from release capability) then no. But should we target their military and nuclear facilities with cruise missiles both with HE and tactical nuke warheads...definitely. I imagine we already have to some degree.
NOTE to TOM T: I feel strongly about about stopping Iran from developing , deploying and possibly using them against Americans...whether in the US or more likely in Iraq or Afghanistan. I have worn then uniform before and I have been to Iraq. I would gladly wear it again. Add I suppose based on you snappy little comment you think that stopping Iran from using nuclear weapons or destroying Iran with our own if they use nukes is in your words..."some neo-con bullsh*t adventure"? How about you Tom....if US soldiers or citizens are murdered by an Iranian nuclear attack....would you be willing to serve, put yourself in harms way? Or is that only for brave Americans who love their country? I think I know your answer.

As long as there is one person left alive in Iraq, Iran, Syria, Afghanistan, Palestine, Lebanon, Pakistan or Jordan the world has a terrorist problem. Let Iraq and to a lesser degree Afghanistan teach us something. If Iran insists on rattling its puny little saber. send half the air force over and nuke the whole country in one trip. They want nukes? Fine with me - let us show them what a couple of hundred going off at once looks like. Let Iran become a radioactive crater that will glow in the dark for 3,000 years or more. Them or us? Us for damn sure.

America faced off with the Soviet Union for decades, and--get this-- they had thousands of nuclear weapons with actual delivery systems, including rockets and bombers and submarines off the coast. Oh, and in case you think Iran is a more fearsome enemy, do a little reading about Stalin and communism. When was the last time Iran killed millions of its own citizens or operated a global empire with the purpose of killing America. We have meddled in Iran for so long for so many purposes. What is even the truth--do you actually buy into the current hype in the media? America needs to do a better job of selling what we are (or at least what we ought to be) and this "western" way of life will take over the world in time, peacefully and welcomed with open arms. Instead we have been belligerent and empire-like, our aristocrats are using our government for the own purposes. Iran must be stopped, but not today and not by military force.

Stop them from doing what? Even your quote said they were open to talks to reassure the west that it's atomic plans are not aimed atproducing bombs.
Your quote: Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini also told a weekly news conference the Islamic Republic's military was "totally prepared to defend the country and Iran is totally prepared for any possible military strike."
Every country should have the right to defend itself especially if it's atacked. If they weren't what's to stop another country from Invading.
Here's the problem with Americans and why people outside America has a problem with us. We think we're better than everybody else. We have nuclear weapons, we have nuclear technology, but we want to tell other people they can't have it.
Don't be mislead. What do you really know about the Iranian regime? They recently showed their willingness to work things out diplomatically but using talks to resolve the British hostage situation. Like you said in the first quote, they are willing to talk and reassure the west, and that could include International Inspections. Why do we feel that we have the right to tell another country what they can and cannot do.
When you tell someone that, of course they're going to rebel against you. We have one planet and we all have to live here so we're all concerned about who has nuclear weapons and if they're going to use them to cause destruction.
We should be more concerned about the terrorists who have espressed their willingness to kill us than worry a regime who wants to talk with us and assure us that they're not pursuing nuclear weapons.
N. Korea has nuclear technology... should we go fight them too?

NO! Leave Iran alone!
The bush regime has elevated our nuke capacity beyond insanity. Hes cranked up 'star wars' again.
hes taken our old nukes and refurbished them!! Did you even know that? And now you whine, "boo hoo hoo, they have one bomb."
Duh... folks?? do you think he escalates nukes for "humanitarian purposes?" LOL
The "bosh bunch regime" are thieves, liars, and lets face it.... not mad men, because you can fake that. This bunch is insane. Got it? Nope, LOL, NOT YET.
You have the right and duty, to attempt to protect your country and deter this bunch by any means necessary. But folks... do you think the fact that any country who really did have a nuke in place here that would wipe out cities, would "deter" the "bush bunch." Do you people think he likes you, or even considers your safety? You think he rebuilds nukes for YOU? hahahahaha. Be serious folks. These are HIS.

First of all, the nuclear reactor in Iran was built by Americans.
Second, denying them the "right" to build reactors is completely contradictory policy because we, American businesses, are sharing the exactly the same technology with India - who has reactors supplied from the old Soviet Union.
Third, this sharing of technology with India (who already has the bomb!) is only increasing the probability of nuclear war with Pakistan (our ally, remember?), while the claim by the idiot Bush administration is that the sale of technology will decrease tensions! Absolutely idiotic...
Fourth, Pakistan, who is our (supposed) ally, sold nuclear technology to North Korea, who is our (supposed) enemy.
Bottom line is - The United States continually develops its own worst enemies - something you will learn more and more as you learn about how Americans (and I am one living overseas) conduct themselves in foreign lands. The unending and inconsistent policies towards these countries are a combination of both political and corporate business interests in constant conflict.
Lastly, while convincing the gullible and horribly informed American public that the administration's policies DECREASE tensions in the region, the response has been for OTHER Arab countries to seek nuclear weapons... And that, of course, is only going to INCREASE the probablility of war in the region in ten plus years.
The problem is less stopping Iran, but more stop Americans from meddling, intimidating, bombing, and torturing people in other countries in the utterly false argument of "spreading Democracy" and freedom.
