First of all, always check with your doctor. That being said, you can probably do any sit-up type exercises (without weights or resistance) that do not cause or increase your pain. You should also concentrate on some back exercises so that you are strengthening your entire core, not just your abs. This will also help with your back pain/problems. Just remember to do so in moderation and stop if it hurts. Good luck!

If you suffer from a slipped disc and you are going to go swimming then do any stroke apart from breast stroke. Breast stroke places the hips into a position that will agrivate your lower back and cause more pressure on the slipped disc. The tummy exercises all should be okay as long as it doesn't agrivate the back or cause pain, Start basic. As a specialist with back strengthening exercises I have covered a basic workout for a stronger core and back. You can find it at www.beebleblog.com on the menu under back pain.
