Do you have pictures of your loved ones? Have you ever looked at the picture of someone while talking on the phone to them?
Statues and pictures of people we love are not idols.
Statues and paintings of Jesus and the saints are just like pictures of the people we love and respect.
The King James Version of the Bible states in Exodus 20:4: "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth"
Why were the Jews commanded not to make graven images? Graven images were the standard method of pagan worship. They were representations of false gods.
This is a very clear command.
However God commanded the Jews in Exodus 25:18 and 1 Chronicles 28:18–19, "And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them"
And in 1 Kings chapter 7 Solomon made bulls and other images out of precious metals.
It seems obvious that the Jews did not worship the cherubims and Solomon did not worship the bulls he had made. These images did not violate the command of God. Therefore, an image not made for worship is acceptable.
In Numbers 21:8-9, "And the LORD said to Moses, "Make a saraph and mount it on a pole, and if anyone who has been bitten looks at it, he will recover." Moses accordingly made a bronze serpent and mounted it on a pole, and whenever anyone who had been bitten by a serpent looked at the bronze serpent, he recovered."
And in John 3:14-15, Jesus says in correlation, "And just as Moses lifted up the [image of a] serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life."
How can a statue of our Lord Jesus Christ dead on the cross be considered an idol to a false god? A crucifix is the message of the Gospel without words held up for all to see, a visual reminder of the sacrifice of Jesus, no different from a painting, a play, or a movie.
Catholics do not worship statues but the almighty God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
With love in Christ.

Well you have presented a difficult question that is still being debated by religious scholars.
I will attempt to answer your question point by point.
>"I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me..."
This commandment means that we are prohibited from worshiping any false gods; we should only worship the one true GOD.
>"Do not make a sculpted image or any likeness of what is in the heavens above..."
This commandment instructs us not to construct any image of GOD or anything else in the celestial realm. This is probably due to the fact that as soon as you make a image of a thing you define an limit that thing and GOD is by his very nature a being of infinite power it would be a grave insult to the LORD GOD if you where to make a drawing or sculpture of him and by doing so imply that he had limits. Also idolatry has been traditionally associated with the worship of false gods and Christianity (or indeed any of the other religions that follow the teachings of Abraham) worships the one true GOD.
>Ok this is stated in the 10 commandments, I want to know, if God almighty has given us these rules to follow, then why do we worship idols/statues in the church (all idols/statues look different in different churches).
Some Christian religions do have religious statues in their churches, these however are not idols as they are not the object of worship, and they serve only to remind the worshiper of the great and unimaginable power that is possessed by the LORD. Not to be objects of worship in and of themselves.
>And when God the father said that "I am the lord your god, and thou shall have no other god other than me, then why do we call Jesus lord, in fact Jesus is Gods son
Some Christians believe that GOD the father , the LORD Jesus Christ, and the HOLY spirit are of one and the same substance and yet somehow separate, The means for this is miraculous and beyond the scope of mortal comprehension.
I hope that this is of help and if you have any further questions I invite you to talk to your local minister and you can discuss it at greater length.

The Hebrew word for God in Genesis Chapter one is Eloyhim
which denotes plurity in the Godhead. Even the Jewish scholars acknowledge this, but they have not made it common knowledge to the rest of the world. When God said let "us" make man in "our" image He was not talking to Himself, and He certainly would not have been talking to the angels who are lesser beings than He is. He had to be talking to an equal or equals or it would be blasphemous.
If you were to study the attributes of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit you would find out that they are all attributed with Omniscience, Omnipotence and Omnipresence, Eternity, etc. but are still one. The mystery of the Godhead is not something man can understand unless God gives special revelation which has never happened to date. The Christian receives the mystery of the Godhead by the same faith that he receives salvation through Christ even though he or she cannot physically see Christ as those people who lived during His time could.
In the New Testament In John Chapter One it states, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God." The Greek word translated Word here is "the Logos" or living Word and speaks of Christ. Verse 14 of this same chapter clarifies just who this Word was when it tells us that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. There is only one person who came down from Heaven and took upon HImself the form of man or (flesh), and that was Jesus Christ who is God incarnate (means came in the flesh).
In other verses such as Isaiah 9:6 Jesus is called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace in prophesy that could only apply to Him.
In the New Testament Jesus declared to his disciples that, "He who has seen me has seen the Father, for I and the Father are one."
The trinity is a concept that goes beyond our finite minds and can only be revealed through God touching spiritually blind eyes and hearts to understand His word...
Hope that helps.

yes, some people and churches are totally worshipping idols. Some people even pray to and worship Mary. These are wrong.
Now, about Jesus (and the last thing you said): Jesus was fully man, but he was also fully God. He is God's son, but he is also God. I know it's hard to fathom, but we're human, and he's God... there's a lot of things we can't really understand. If you read the first couple of chapters of Genesis, you will see God say "we" many times.
Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, fully God, fully man, in whose Person is effected the reconciliation between God and man. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all believers as the living and ever present Lord.

Because God is God(the highest) and Jesus is Lord. We may say that Jesus is Lord but we don't say that Jesus is God. There is a difference. However, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, these 3 are 1. That is the Word of God, it is called the Trinity which is 1. May God Bless U.

Read more about the TRINITY and you will understand about the deity of Jesus.
[1] The first person in the Trinity is God the Father. He is called the first person, in respect of order, not dignity: for God the Father has no essential perfection which the other persons have not; he is not more wise, more holy, more powerful than the other persons are. There is a priority, not a superiority.
[2] The second person in the Trinity is Jesus Christ, who is begotten of the Father before all time. ‘I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. When there were no depths I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, was I brought forth.’ Prov viii 23-25. This Scripture declares the eternal generation of the Son of God. This second person in the Trinity, who is Jehovah, is become our Jesus. The Scripture calls him the branch of David, Jer xxiii 5, and I may call him the flower of our nature. ‘By him all that believe are justified.’ Acts xiii 39.
[3] The third person in the Trinity is the Holy Ghost, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, whose work is to illuminate the mind, and enkindle sacred motions. The essence of the Spirit is in heaven, and everywhere; but the influence of it is in the hearts of believers. This is that blessed Spirit who gives us the holy unction. I John ii 20. Though Christ merits grace for us, it is the Holy Ghost that works it in us. Though Christ makes the purchase, it is the Holy Ghost that makes the assurance, and seals us to the day of redemption. Thus I have spoken of all the three persons. The Trinity of persons may be proved out of Matt iii 16. ‘Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him; and lo, a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son.’ Here are three names given to the three persons. He who spake with a voice from heaven was God the Father; he who was baptized in Jordan was God the Son; he who descended in the likeness of a dove was God the Holy Ghost. Thus I have shown you the Unity of essence, and the Trinity of persons.
And as for me, I don't worship any created idols. I only see catholics do that with all the saints and images that they have.

you should not make images to worship instead of God. I think was the purpose of this law. we have a cross in our church only as a reminder as to what Christ did for us. it has no likeness of Christ on it. we would rather remember what he did and what the outcome was rather than to look at only one part of his mission on earth. those who have Christ on the cross are they wrong. I do not know but God does know if we are worshipping him or the idol on the cross. Further more God the father God the son Christ and God the holy spirit are one. one what-----three who's. therfore worshipping one is worshipping all three. I thank the Holy spirit when something happens does it mean I am worshipping another God? no I am worshipping the ONE.

Only false Religions do what God the Creator condemns.
Actual footstep followers of Christ shun everything pagan.
'A certain church' adopted pagan holidays & festivals, gods & idols, and practices such as praying through a woman as intercessor .. for the purpose of getting recruits the quickest & easiest way they knew how. Eventually that church splintered & became many sects all over the world. They encourage youth to offer themselves as living sacrifices to the god of war, much like pagan religions have been known to regularly offer living child sacrifices --tossed into a fire/buried alive-- which is an abomination!
