i think all places secret and open that house people like animals, treat them worse then animals, and cover it all with words of justice, policy, protecting the govt etc should be closed and then burned to the ground. but before that the ones who opened such places to begin with should be forced to spend a little time there to fully appreciate why it should be closed in the first place.

It should never have been started. It was opened as a way to make an end run around the constitution by not having the prisoners in the US were they would be protected from things like crule and unusual punishment, etc. The detention center is a blot on our countries history of respect for the rule of law.

That being said, no, I do not believe Guantanamo bay detention centers should be shut down. I believe the military should be allowed to do it's job.

Most definitely, they are a terrible example of how badly we treat each other as human beings. Detaining people is one thing, torturing them and depriving them of human contact or fresh air is quite another. All that will do is further alienate people and make them worse. This question probably belongs on the political boards though ;)

The place should never have been created.

It was a deliberate seeking of a loophole in law to place it there, which alone is almost evidence enough.
It has almost certainly created, through its propaganda value, more terrorists than it has contained.
