Yes! We have such an awesome God! Can you believe that the Sovereign Lord of the Universe loves and cares what happens to us!!! WOW
James 4:8a: "8 Draw close to God, and he will draw close to YOU."
John 6: 44-45: "No man can come to me unless the Father, who sent me, draws him; and I will resurrect him in the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by Jehovah.’ Everyone that has heard from the Father and has learned comes to me."
2 Peter 3:9: "Jehovah is not slow respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with YOU because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.

While I might be content to accept the words of Timothy, that the scripture is profitable for those purposes, and even that the term "god-breathed" is more than just euphemism, I have to disagree entirely that god is contained in the bible. "contained" being the specific word i have trouble with. Perfect, Infinite, Almighty, Omniscient, Omnipresent. -can't fit all that into a book. Like it or not, in the end, the book is words, telling a story. An important story, but still. There are parallels in the word usage: breath, spirit, word, -and so forth, including the name of god. Consider the Hebrew infinitive verb: Havah (HVH) which means both "to live" and "to breathe". -these are clues, and cues, to the purpose and use of the bible, which Timothy laid out fairly plain. Teaching, conviction, correction, instruction. He does not call the scripture worthy of worship. this would be idolatry, and a misuse. The proverb, who's source I can't immediately recall, is about a father who means to show his child the moon. The child looks up, sees his father's finger, and thinks that this is the moon his father is showing him. This is how I see the bible. It is not god, but merely a device to lead you to him. If you believe, (IMHO) you must believe that god is real and alive, and not subject to nor bound by literature. Not detracting from the usefulness and profitability of scripture; just saying that you cannot chain the almighty, nor restrict him to a few hundred pages. don't mistake the finger for the moon.

I believe if more Christians lived by this then the world would be a much better place to live. I think Christians as a whole need to sit down look at what the bible really says and then act.

Actually the writer of that passage is speaking about something that is generally smiled upon by most cultures around the world--a change in a human being for the better. Despite Christian claims, the Christian faith is not the only religion in the world that can boast of such transformations.

To me, it reminds me one of the reasons why I engage in the house to house preaching work - I'm trying to save lives. I'm searching out those who are "sighing and groaning" and that are being drawn by Jehovah.
Isn't it a delight for us as well as for Jehovah when someone responds and wants to follow Him too?

What will touch peoples heart is for people to take these words and live along this line.
If George Bush took these words and said it to Sadam Hussein I would be moved not just touched.
May we all think along this line and act on it.
Only then will people be touched.
