Okay. So I want a new haircut, at SUPERCUTS for $13, or maybe higher because my hair is really long.
My dad says he knows this other place for only $7 a haircut, no matter how long. That place is Chinese, and I'm Chinese, and it's not that I'm racist or anything, I just want my hair professionally cut.
Also one more thing: I think that the Chinese barbers cut differently, or maybe only Chinese styles, is this true? (Please base this answer on your own experience.)

LOL I didn't think there was a difference in 'barber' and 'hair stylist.'

Diana, I'm not judging by race, I'm just thinking of how different the cut would be if I went to either salons. Like some Chinese salons have adopted new, American styles while others cut by traditional Chinese cuts.

There are good and bad stylists in every price range.
You may get a great cut for $7, it's hard to say.
I've been going to the same guy for ages because he always does a great job. He charges $38, which I don't think is too bad - but I would still go if he charged $5 or $75.
You just don't mess with a woman's hair. It's kind of sacred.

I don't think it's expensive to pay up to $20 for a haircut.
That said, before you decide, perhaps you should visit the Chinese barber your dad is talking about to watch them and see if its any good. When you say barber i imagine people who cut men's hair and shave them while they're at it. But maybe it's really an Asian hair stylist, and since they're experienced with Asian hair you can tell them what you want and they should be able to do it.
Chinese hair stylists do cut differently. Chinese/Asian hair is different. I know that from experience (had expensive cuts that just didn't suit me. They didn't fall right, or they expected my hair to fall into place and it didn't! Was horrible).
What you might want to do is perhaps get your hair cut at a salon run by Chinese/Asian folk. Not exactly a barber, but where there are Chinese ladies who work on Chinese hair day in and day out who can take instruction and execute it right.
Supercuts might also have stylists who are used to working on Asian hair. Ask them when you're there.
The best thing though is to ask your Asian friends where they go to get their hair cut. Just make sure you pick the friends with nice haircuts.

That is not an expensive haircut. Supercuts and the like are pretty scary places for a professional cut. I would recommend a salon with professional stylists. They are quite expensive, about $25-$30 more than what you've mentioned but it's worth it when you know your hair is going to be healthy and look wonderful.

I don't think that's expensive at all, my hair costs $35 and it's still in the medium pricerange. If a hair salon has a set price for all hair types than it's probably not very good at cutting. Chinese people wouldn't be good for my hair because my hair is more frizzy and curly than most Chinese people, but if you have straight hair then it probably wouldn't be too bad because they're probably really used to working with that kind of hair. I don't have any experience with Chinese hairstylists, however I do with Japanese hairstylists, and they do cut differently but ONLY because most Chinese/Japanese people have really straight bodiless hair so they do haircuts that define the volume and make it look more full, so it might work out for you...

Ok if you really want to know, call the shops and ask them if they are familiar in cutting asian hair and ask them how long they've been doing this. I'm a hairdresser and SuperCuts is most likely people that have just got their license and need clientel. I charge $45 for a cut and some places charge $60. So go with the experienced person cause you most often get what you pay for!

I would say that by American standards, including yearly inflation, for a woman's hairstyle/cut, both $13 and $7 are extremely, extremely ... thrifty. To the extent that I might advise a tad higher for quality (which wouldn't be guaranteed, of course). But it's great that you're saving money, whether with the $13 or the $7. If it's a great style for you, go with it.

I worked at Supercuts for a while, and I would say that you should probably stick with them for haircuts. The Supercuts company hires only licensed cosmotolegists so that their customers have peace of mind that they are getting a good haircut. Also, if you are not happy with the haircut and would like to have it re-done, you can always go back and tell them that you were not happy and they will not charge you for them to fix what you are not happy with. I strongly urge you to continue to go to Supercuts, only because my work experience there has shown me that they will do their best to give you a beautiful haircut that you are happy with.
Hope I helped!!

I'm chinese too... I prefer asian people hair cuts (no offense or anything)
Because I guess because asians have different hair than americans.. I'm never satisfied with my hair in american hair salons because they usually cut my hair in a dull way.
When i go in, they just ask how much i want to cut..
But in asian salons, the usually layer ur hair more and suggest hairstyles to u...
american hair is different from asian hair, many times, u can randomly cut their hair and it will still look ok or good, but for asian hair (because its just black), a little mistake can be devastating!
