The name Easter comes from a pagan figure called Eastre (or Eostre) who was celebrated as the goddess of spring by the Saxons of Northern Europe. A festival called Eastre was held during the spring equinox by these people to honor her. The goddess Eastre’s earthly symbol was the rabbit, which was also known as a symbol of fertility. Originally, there were some very pagan (and sometimes utterly evil) practices that went along with the celebration. In our day, Easter is almost a completely commercialized holiday, with all the focus on Easter eggs and the Easter bunny being remnants of the goddess worship.

The Easter bunny was introduced to American folklore by the German settlers who arrived in the Pennsylvania Dutch country during the 1700s. The arrival of the "Oschter Haws" was considered "childhood's greatest pleasure" next to a visit from Christ-Kindel on Christmas Eve. The children believed that if they were good the "Oschter Haws" would lay a nest of colored eggs.

Fertility. Rabbits are fertile. This is an ancient festival celebrating the return of spring and the fertility of the land. In some cultures, great orgies were held on the vernal equinox in the belief that it would contribute to the fertility of the land.
The old belief was that the seed died and was reborn in the plant and the story of Jesus is a retelling of that story.

Ya, I really wonder why bunnies are in stocks in malls and supermarket in pink colour as their top grocier, I was borned under the chinese zodiak sign bunny with matching accidental hallys comet tail illuminate the ship, while my mother shout during delivery over board armada sommer set, And to be honest I felt just human as you are guys,To be honest the da vinci code is not my genocide.
But I just want to confirmed that the royal family certainly from King Clovis lady of Pomerania/Notre Dame of Naranja, Although royal family mentain the system of coding names to compressed long names in royalty, well a bunny doll i think is more cute something like tame for the babies to touch while mothers teach them what is easter.
All I understand because my mother was a lancaster and My father was from the root of York of Denmark and thats why it hot pink! and It was a family joke to me. Obispo Cloude Richard Bowes Lyon was the Obispo of Armenia of Relic Roman Empire, as well as the Earl of Strathmore and It is just logical to tittle me as the Princess of Armenia.
What ever secret hidden if their is really a secret thats for the ancestor problem and not mine to be guilty, I am not in any difference from you and I am just another woman with sometime in wacky ideas nor a blooper cracking joke most of the time to kill my own boredom. I was a tomboy looking on my child days and never look good in baby dress but more demure now a days trying so hard to be a fine lady in attitude...

Commercialism. Anyways, maybe it's nicer for a child to see bunnies than a guy stuck on a cross.

Because Easter is a pagan fertility festival, hence the eggs and the rabbit which should actually be a hare.

Great question! I ask myself this question each holiday. If you ask me it is to keep your mind off of God and Jesus Christ!
